I understand he's extremely overpaid with a lengthy contract, but if you consider looking at all the personal bombs he had to take this recent year...sometimes its too much. Playing from two distant styles, D'Antoni, who loves to run an international style based offense...and Larry Brown, who likes to make his team play like they're from 1942. Despite his lack of production from the offensive end, I've been pleased with his defense, he's stepped up, took alot of charging fouls, played great one on one D, he's not a help defender, but he gets the job done on that side of the court. Yeh...thats probably all perception...because who else on this team plays defense besides Richardson and Ariza. I just feel bad he had to leave a place he was really happy in...and come to this hell hole Isiah has created for special talented NBA players. At this point, I hope Richardson will get it going and starting dropping 20 with the absence of Marbury. Richardson is not a bad player...he's just not on the right team...with the right coach....
Yeah, I do feel for him, but this is New York. No one is going to take it easy on you. Richardson is going to have to adjust to the style of play. I know he's played in Phoenix last year with the league's best point guard, but Richardson's understandable slump will have to be gone next season. He's a talented player capable of averaging 20 points per game in this league, but a part of being successful in this league is learning how to adjust. Just imagine how better we would be if we had Q dropping 15 a night for us. For a guy getting paid 6+ million, 7 points on 35% shooting is simply unacceptable. He'll slide this year with his off court issues, but he definitely needs to take his game to another notch next year.
feel bad for him too, he battled injuries this year, he struggled badly shooting, his brother got shot in chi town... man this is the hardest year for him, i hope next season he'll be 100% healthy, and his defense is already pretty good i think... so he needs to bring his offense back
I feel bad for the guy, he lost a brother, I think he has lost other close relatives in the past. He lost Brandy I think. He got traded from a team with a great record giving him a lot of PT with a good fit to a team with one of the worst records and struggling a lot on offense. I think if Q-Rich develops his perimeter defense and becomes quicker on penetrations and drives more often. Then he can become a valuable player.
