Posting articles for some reason is a hassle, so I'm just gonna post the snippet that caught my eye..

Matthew Stafford remains indisputably Georgia's No. 1 quarterback, but that doesn't mean he'll be the only one to play this season. In fact, coach Mark Richt said Wednesday that the Bulldogs plan to play Joe Cox regularly.
"Right now we're leaning toward getting him in the first game," Richt said of the Sept. 1 opener against Oklahoma State. "He'll play in every game, more than likely."

Cox played well last year, but I thought Richt would have learned his lesson with Shockley & Greene. I don't want to see a repeat of that.

Shockley was very highly touted, Joe Cox, not so much. At least Shockley gave us a different option, with him being much more mobile than Greene. Still a stupid move.

Marcus Randall and JaMarcus Russell competed for PT during the 2004 season for absolutely no reason. Russell did nothing but win games for the Tigers and in the Peach Bowl vs Iowa Saban puts in 3rd stringer Matt Flynn ahead of Russell only to crap out. Then he puts Russell in and we take the lead only to lose on crap coverage.
Im a believer that not much good can come from QB depth chart indecision.

QUOTE (Kid Chocolate)

Where did you see this, btw?

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Geaux Tigers: Shockley & Greene both made NFL rosters.. something that can not be said about Russell or Randall. Eh eh eh?

Eh eh eh?

Well I'm not comparing the talent because as a pair Shockley and Greene would win. Russell is the best out of all of them. Im just saying that neither one of those situations was really beneficial for the team. QB is a major confidence position IMO and you cant shake an older players confidence like that. I think Florida did it the right way last season with Tebow and Leak. Everyone including Tebow knew that Leak was the QB, but Tebow could do something Leak couldnt and in short yardage/decoy situations Tebow could be used to run.

There was also a much larger age difference between Tebow & Leak than Shockley & Greene.
David Greene was just one year ahead of DJ Shockley, while Tim Tebow played his first game when Chris Leak was a senior. So the two scenarios weren't all that comparable. I think that DJ Shockley could have done bigger & better things than Greene if he was given the chance to develop in a more stable environment, but that's all speculation.
