Rick Barry, for most of his career, played without three pointers. However he played with them enough to take six hundred of them, giving one a pretty good sample size. Barry is often remembered for his long bombs, but is that the case? Barry shot less than 30% from the arc during his hall of fame career, while on the other hand being among the league's leaders in free throw attempts year in and year out, meaning that many of his points came from in the paint.Barry was a great shooter, but not a great long range shooter and did not shoot from down town frequently

Nobody in those days shot well from deep, there was no point in shooting that far.
