The Pacers are holding a press conference to announce the firing of Rick Carlisle as the team's head coach. Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird is speaking to the media at this hour. Bird said the team will begin its search for a new head coach immediately. The Pacers suffered a disappointing season with a bad second half that saw them drop out of the playoffs.http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/458..._fire_carlisle/Press conference is on NBATV right now..Fire Doc/Sign Carlisle Celtics!

There must have been some major personalty clashes for him to get fired.

If he moves on to a classy team with some hard-working, "good" players - he'll bring that team to success. I feel bad for Carlisle having to deal with all the BS he had to deal with; yet I am happy for Carlisle because he is finally out of that sh*t hole known as Indiana, and can finally leave to a respectable place like Boston, maybe.

I hope Carlisle comes to Boston, man. We NEED him, this is the perfect opportunity for Ainge to get rid of Cock Riverse and get ourselves a good coach. Carlisle played for the Celtics and he gets along with Ainge, there is no reason why Ainge shouldn't get his ass on the phones to bring him in. If Ainge doesn't, I'll be f*cking pissed.

The problem with him coming to Boston is a lot of the fans will complain and make the situation uncomfortable for him if we aren't instant contenders..it's a major market and there is a lot of pressure to be greatLook what's happened to Doc Rivers (Carlisle is no Doc Rivers though..he's a good coach)

It sucks that he was fired, like Reppin the D said it isn't his fault. He had to deal with a lot of sh*t that was well beyond his control, how was he to know that Ron Artest would freak out and start a riot, or sit out until he was traded, than when they trade him they basically got nothing in return. I think Larry Bird should be held just as accountable, he is the one who traded Artest for Peja, than let Peja go(that was a good move though), than he does that trade with the Warriors, plus he is the guy who signed all the future prisioners of America to contracts.

Carlisle is stubborn as hell, I wouldn't be so quick to say Yeah lets go get him if I were you. He has also proven he can't do much but be mediocre. That Pacer team was picked to go to the finals for a few years in a row..they didn't have much success with that. The Pistons got there with essentially the same team after he left.he also has big problems developing young talent whatsoever..and with all the young guys in Boston..I think that'd be a horrible fit. I think he'd fit better with a team like the Kings or something.

Not too surprising. The team was a bit dissapointing this year, and the coach has to take part of the blame. He is an incredible coach, but obviously the organization didn't think he was the best fit.

I think Indiana tryed to put the blame on Carlisle. Sure he never got them far in the playoffs but maybe if he had some halfway disciplined players to deal with, it would of been a different story.

Not bitter but the fact that they fired him in the first place. I could see if he left but told the franchise he would be interested in a job up front, but THEY fired HIM.

    Re: Rick Carlisle Fired!

If they were going to remove him from coaching and put him in the front office, they would have announced that at the same time that they fired him. Carlisle will not be working for the Pacer organization anymore. He is a top ten coach, won't be long until he has a shopping list of job offers.

So they say. How many 'firings' end happily? If it was mutual, he would have left on his own terms, not been fired.
