<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Rick Carlisle, fired Saturday as Pistons coach as the team made room for Larry Brown, interviewed for the Clippers job Tuesday, ESPN.com's Marc Stein has learned.

Carlisle spoke to Los Angeles general manager Elgin Baylor, who called the former Detroit coach to request an interview at the pre-draft camp in Chicago.

Carlisle will also meet with the Wizards in the near future.

The Clippers also have interviewed Mike Dunleavy and interim coach Dennis Johnson.

Carlisle had said recently that he planned to pursue coaching jobs with three teams. The identity of the third team remains unknown.

Carlisle was fired abruptly after guiding Detroit to a pair of 50-win seasons and an appearance in this year's Eastern Conference finals.

The 42-year-old Carlisle was let go with one year and $2 million left on his contract, despite winning two straight division titles and the 2002 NBA Coach of the Year award.

Carlisle, in his first head coaching job, helped turn Detroit from a lottery team into one of the top teams in East.

He led the Pistons to a 100-64 regular-season record and a 12-15 postseason mark. Their season ended May 24 after they were swept by New Jersey in the conference finals. </div>

Don't take this job rick...their franchise is going nowhere....their GM is terrible..this would be a big mistake...go to the Blazers.

He would be good with the blazers but it looks like they are keeping cheeks. I agree that he shouldnt take the job because all the players are leaving the team.

i think its a good fit he will have a nice supporting cast unless brand and co leave with they likley will so that basisly means he's gonna pull the same trick he did with detroit imo and i think he can produce a team well

first he gets fired for a stupid reason and then he might end up w/ the clippers? WHEN DO THE PUNISHMENTS END? har. it might not be that bad.. if the GM is willing to get some quality free agents

If I was Carlisle, I would take this job. Not because it is a good basketball team, but because L.A. would be an awesome place to live.

if he does take it i think the clippers will be much better than this year, it would hard to be worse, but i dont see them making the playoffs anytime soon, but maybe in a couple years carlisle can prove in la. that he's a really good coach and the clippers actually will be good.

Look at the clippers damn record this season and past years..also the state their franchise is in...will be rick's biggest mistake in his life to go there..he will regret it...

Blazers would be the right place for him..
