Talent is no good when the players don't listen to anything that coaches say. There has been a lot of baggage and injuries in Indiana, and the Mike Dunleavy trade downgraded their skill level and they haven't been able to get on track.

Carlisle HAS shown that he can coach extremely well if everyone's on the same page though. He's won coach of the year when he coached the Pistons I believe and he's also taken the Pacers to a couple of playoff runs before Artest messed everything up by punching a fan in the face.

Anything is better than Brian Hill at this point anyway.

Carlisle is a good coach i just believe he has a lot of question marks right now. With dwight coming out of his shell and players starting to mesh together I dont think its a good time to throw a coach in there that might be hit or miss. Yes, we need to get rid of hill we all know that, but as of right now carlisle isnt to much of a step up. He will also have twice as much pressure on him to succeed. I would rather see the magic get someone like a larry brown or a del harris who have well enough experience to teach these young players the right way.

Do you know how much money Larry Brown would want? No way in hell we can afford a big name coach.

Rick Carlisle took a team to the playoffs that was without 2 of it's 3 best players for 30 games, not to mention the other of their 3 best players was Artest who got suspended the rest of the season.

Carlisle got a raw deal in Indiana. He didn't have that much talent. We all love Darrell Armstrong, but him basically being the backup PG down the stretch shows their lack of talent. JO was hurt and missed 13 games, but he went through stretches where he wasn't that effective because of the injury. I don't really see all the talent that you are mentioning. Mike Dunleavy was their 2nd best scorer. Danny Granger has a lot of talent. Jamaal Tinsley? Troy Murphy? Ike Diogu? Jeff Foster? You do realize that after the trade that took away 2/3rds of their scoring, they went 14-29, which means that they were at 21-18 and in the middle of the playoff race before the Pacers took away several of their most talented players.

Rick Carlisle would be a HUGE upgrade over Brian Hill(almost anyone would be though) and I really wouldn't mind having him. He has proven he can get his superstar big the ball with JO. He's a capable drafter too after getting Granger.

I don't really see why he would have twice the pressure to succeed, our organization has shown that it sticks with our coaches too long and I doubt that would change with Carlisle. He can't possibly be worse than our last 2 coaches of Johnny Davis and Brian Hill. Not to mention that he's a proven coach that has succeeded at the NBA level with a variety of talent.

Do we even have a chance of landing him though? I would love it, to be honest. What was that stat on TNT? He's made the playoffs 3-4 years in a row, discounting this year. He also isn't as stale as Hill, whose plays are repetitive and easy to read.

Also Larry Brown is taking an interest in coaching the Grizzlies from what I heard. Also, I would not even want Brown. He has shown that he is a more veteran oriented coach. Meaning that Dwight, Darko, and any/all other younger talent on our team would be a flat line.
