That's subjective. Will he take less shots, and defer clearly to Pierce? Probably. Will he pass as much. I think so, yes. Will he rebound as well. No. Does he mostly fill the void created by Walker? Yes. The change from Walker to Davis allows Boston to play a bigger lineup, since the power forward spot that Walker (6'7") filled is used by Vin Baker(6'11") and allows Davis(6'7") and Pierce(6'6") to fill the 2 and 3 spots with good size. Last year they often went with a Walker, Pierce and Delk(6'4") lineup, whereas now they have 7 inches more with this new one. That ought to help Boston with its defense, which it lacked in the New Jersey series. In terms of being an all-star and all that, no, Ricky isn't better than Antoine. He won't make the all-star team, and he isn't as versatile as Toine, but I think with him in the lineup the team will be better.
I think he really helps the team, you can't like his attitude, but he is a good scorer and player. He will never fill Walker's shoes, he won't be a fan favorite, but he'll get the job done.

I think it's good that Ainge is finally doing something to take the edge off of losing Antoine Walker. However, I'm not happy that they traded Williams. They lost a real good defensive player and a spark plug off the bench. What they got in return is a poor defender who is a problem for his coach. Davis will put up good numbers, make no mistake, but I wish they could have kept Williams out of the deal. Also, they still aren't as good as they were with Walker.

I think Davis will not suceed in Boston I just dont think he is a good second option. He will take bad shots and take shots away from Pierce who has been lighting it up lately. I think Mihm should start he was doing well on the Cavs.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting BC:</div><div class="quote_post">Well the Celtics need offense, and in filling Antoine's shoes where is attacking the basket included?</div> Good point about Antoine, but the Celtics are going to need defense as well now that they gave up Williams. I don't know about Ainge, I hope he can make another move and get some better defenders.
Didn't see this trade coming at all..I think the Celts got the better of the deal, but wow, Ainge is a lunatic. 2 big trades in the last couple months. First Antoine, now he trades for Ricky Davis and Mihm...
Lunatic? That's pretty harsh. The guy realized that between the two stars he had, Pierce was the guy to build around. He's only just taken control of the team, so give him some time. Krause had 7 years with Jordan to surround him with talent. Trading away Orlando Woolridge wasn't popular back then, and he had similar scoring punch to Walker today. Give Ainge some time and I think he'll prove his worth. He's fitting the team to Pierce's abilities. And Walker just didn't fit in with that schematic.
