http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2116037 My favorite is; When asked why he decided to return to the NFL, Williams hesitated. "Why? Why? I don't know," he said, prompting snickers. "I've been away doing my own thing, studying a lot of alternate theories about life. To go into that answer -- it can't be picked up in a sound byte or easily understood. So the best way I can think of to put it is that I'm back here to work." Great answer! Being cryptic like that really drives the media nuts. I am NOT excusing what RW did, but, can't help but wonder if the medication he took for social anxiety disorder reacted poorly w/ the other substance he was toking. Williams said he no longer smokes marijuana but declined to discuss the subject further. Lets be honest Ricky is still in his mid 20's most guys really don't have it all together until their 30's. Heck. I'm in my mid 30's and still am not sure if I have all the answers of if I ever will.
I think the media has blown Ricky Williams situation of proportion. Yes he left football because he was addicted to drugs but it's not the first time a guy retired at a young age. Robert Smith was the best RB in the NFC and he retired to soon. Now granted he did bail out on his teammates but Ricky has taken a lot of abuse for what he has done. I hope he comes back strong but I think the fins are gonna trade him.
They will trade him once Brown proves he can be a star in the league. because why would they want to star running backs on the team? But if Brown proves to be a bust(which i dont think he will be) they would keep Ricky.
I will have to say that I liked what he said about what freedom means to him....then and now. Hard to tell if someone fed him the quote or not, but he pulled it off well.
When you get pounded 30+ times a game, it's hard. Ricky is a spiritual person and spiritual people have a hard time explaining their ways to others. I think Ricky should of took another year off and then came back. No matter what y'all say, when RW is on the field at his normal size and healthy, he's the best back in the NFL.
I'll take LT and Priest when healthy. Edge and Amahn you can easily make an argument for a better back as well. Ricky is solid and if he can get back to his playing weight Miami is gonna run a 2 back system this season. Both will see anywhere from 10 to 20 carries a game and that would wear down defenses. Miami might be dangerous if they can get some solid QB play as well because defenses are gonna stack the line to stop the run. I don't know if Gus Ferrotte or A.J. Feely can provide that quality play at QB though.
