Shawn Merriman, tests positive for STEROIDS, a performance enhancing drug was a candidate for defensive player of the year and was a pro bowler. Ricky Williams like to smoke pot, probably a peformance hinder and the guy gets thrown out of the league. One of the many contradictions in the No Fun League.
Ricky is a really smart dude I guess he just can't get away from smoking pot. Which is pretty dumb because I'm sure he still owes the Dolphins money. Well this year Ricky CANNOT go play for the Toronto Argonauts in the CFL because they just instituted a policy that doesn't allow any suspended players from the NFL to play for the CFL. Oh well I really like Ricky its a shame he just can't quit the ganja for a couple years to finish out his career.
Ricky Williams is an idiot, and doesn't deserve to play. He is always breaking rules, and always getting suspended. I think this time needs to be a life time ban, and just not worry about him again. The Dolphins really do not need him this year though, as they have Ronnie Brown, who I thought did not have a bad year last year. He didnt have a great one, but with that offense it was hard to. This year hopefully the offense will be a bit better, and he will have more room to run.

The 2-back system has become incredibly effective in the NFL. And with Miami's QB problems, this would have been a great option for their offense. It's too bad, but it's all Ricky's fault, he just can't put down the pipe.

The thing is with football and baseball players, is that they dont have to be in constant shape. Football players at most play twice a week. And correct me if im wrong, their season is like 20 weeks. Basbeball play nearly everyday, but they dont physically stress themselves, so therefore, why not do pot? Why not do steroids, might as well get high and buff in between games.
RaptorFan that makes no sense. Any professional athlete is constantly keeping themselves in shape. Pot doesn't make you out of shape if you're smart about it. It's not like players who smoke pot just go eh F*ck it, it's off-season, I'm gonna smoke pot and eat twinkies for 3 months and I'll magically go back to playing shape. These guys smoke pot recreationally after a workout or on the weekends or in Ricky's case, everyday. It's just like a guy having a beer after a long workout or something like that. Just because someone smokes pot doesn't mean they're taking it easy. Also, Steroids and pot should not even be in the same sentence.

I'm not conding Ricky Williams in any way and I dont neccesarily disagree with what anybody is saying. But it pisses me off when the media, fans, and the NFL is expelling someone for smoking pot. Yet pretty much any other crime is accepted. I remember BCB had a topic about how athletes don't get off easily. Tank Johnson had hundreds of rounds of ammunition in his household and spent what, like 40 days in jail. What other person would get that sentence? And Wilbon on PTI today said that Johnson is only getting a 4-game suspension from the NFL. So let me get this straight, Ricky Williams who smokes weed and does yoga while he's high gets suspended for a year. And Tank Johnson had serious ammunition that could be used to kill someone gets a 4-game suspension. And what abouT Merriman?! Nobody ever brings this guy up. He used steroids for christ sake and he gets a 4-game suspension. It's insanity how much the NFL contradicts itself.

I don't really disagree with WTTJ. I think the NFL's policies are a mess and have been for decades, but the really funny part is how Ricky just can't figure this out. It's pretty mind-blowing to me how these guys don't get it.

It can be mentally addictive with some people. I don't really think Ricky is a weed addict, I think for some strange reason, he just really loves to smoke weed and he thinks he can get away with it. Apparently Ricky hasn't gotten the memo that drug tests are extremely accurate and unless you have some crazy concoction that can hide the drug in your blood, you're pretty much screwed.

What an idiot. Last year when he begged the league for him to come back, he said he had been running out of money, and that he was poor. He finally gets back in the league, and then he smokes more pot? What a dumbfuck, totally messed up his career. He was once the best RB in the league.
If I was ricky williams damn straight id be positive for marijuana. He is very rich and living his dream, dont hate on him for that. He is still a great player but during his prime(which he was smoking) He was argueably one of the top 10 greatest rb's ever.
