Michael Platini's got it dead right with his plans for the Champions League. It's about time someone stood up to the greedy money-men in football. Too bad there wasn't similar intestinal fortitude forthcoming from the FA. If not, the game within the next 25 years will be run along the same lines as North American sports, a severely limited number of teams, no promotion/relegation, annual drafts to keep teams competitive and the money circulating through the same hands with no room or interest in minor or amateur football. One more thing I would like to see Platini do and that is, rename the CL to it's proper ID, that is the European Cup, at the moment it is a complete misnomer.
Theres not a cat in hells chance of the Champions League changing. The G14 and TV wont allow it. Platini is just shitting his pants because the english clubs are getting powerful again and threatening to take over europe again. If he makes it that only 3 teams qualify from england and the other powerful leagues its just gonna make whoever the top 3 are even RICHER. Just think the likes of anyone doing 'an Everton' will be long gone. Be truthful who would see Chelsea V 4th in Italy or V 2nd in Finland(no disrepect to Finland but you know what I mean). And thats the problem, Sponsors they want big games for maximum exposure. So as much as you may think its a good idea it will never happen. Also I think that you are being a little selfish here because you think that Chelsea will be 1 of the 3 teams, but look at it this way, Do you think Roman would have bought Chelsea if they hadn't made the CL that season or would he have looked at another club with more potential.
