<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Speaking to the local media for the second consecutive day, Heat coach Pat Riley said Friday he would like to remain team president long term and will meet with owner Micky Arison next week to discuss his future.

''That's up to my owner,'' said Riley, whose contract has one year left. ``I like my job.''

''I don't need a job,'' he added, laughing.

Riley reiterated he wants to extend coach Stan Van Gundy's contract beyond next season and also will seek extensions for general manager Randy Pfund and two key members of the scouting department -- Chet Kammerer and Adam Simon.

He indicated one key to the team's success has been the ''continuity'' of the front office. Since Riley and Pfund joined the team before the 1995-96 season, 216 general managers and coaches have been fired, Riley said.

Riley said the Heat's next challenge is improving its play on the road, where Miami was 13-34, including playoffs. He said the team's struggles on the road ``were not very surprising. If you can play .500 on the road, you're winning 50-plus games.

    Asked whether he feels vindicated by the franchise's turnaround, he said, ``I don't . . . I feel relief.''</div>

    Good to hear

<font color="Red"><font size="2"><font face="Tahoma">I'm so glad he wants to remain with the FO. I was getting kinda worried earlier with all the mavs rumors but now that Mark Cuban cleared that up, I was pretty sure Riles was staying as Heat president.

He's taken some risks but they've worked out great. Handing over the reins of such a young team to someone who's never been a head coach was a risk but yet it worked out. So was signing LO, so was moving Wade to guard, signing Skip.

I have trust in him to lead us to another great off-season. [IMG] </font> </font> </font>
