Newly crowned WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios (27-0-1, 20 KO’s) looked great tonight in taking out WBA champion Miguel Acosta (28-4-2, 22 KO’s) tonight in an exciting bout at the Palms Casino Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada. Rios showed excellent power and pressure to wear down Acosta and knock him down three separate times to get a 10th round stoppage. The question now is who will Rios face next? According to Steve Kim of Maxboxing.com, there’s talk of Rios fighting 37-year-old former three division world champion Marco Antonio Barrera (67-7, 44 KO’s) in a fight that would be giving Rios a named opponent for him to fight. Rios needs a fighter with a name for him to help build up a fan base, because the win over Acosta wasn’t a big enough fight due to Acosta not having a high name recognition among casual boxing fans.
