Adam West, Straight-Faced Star of TV's 'Batman,' Dies at 88 http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/adam-west-dead-batman-star-832264
Rest in peace Adam West, the original Batman. Also enjoyed him as the mayor of Quahog. I have the movie and will probably watch it. My favorite part of the movie/show was during the fight scenes...Biff!
Vale Adam West. I grew up with his Batman because the repeats were always on TV. I always enjoyed the window cameos.
I used to watch the movie all the time when I was a kid. Shark repellant spray, Bat running around with the fizzing cartoon bomb, Joker you diabolical... Goodbye, Adam.
The one litmus test that I think makes a person truly interesting is if they are funny. It's one of the few things you can't buy and you can't fake it either. If somebody has made people laugh than they've probably lived a good full life. You've earned your rest, Mayor Adam We.
RIP Adam West. Condolences to fam and friends. I always thought the masks were stupid. Why should robin wear a disguise when 80% of his facial features are obvious? Why did batman need eyebrows? TV Batman....first superhero without the required ripped muscle package. The perfect bat mobile was that 66 Pontiac Bonneville.
That's what makes that series so great, the parodic nature, the silliness. The exaggeration. It's a cult classic. I have a copy and I watch it every now and then. It's my five year olds favorite. I love Adam West as Batman, and he will always be the original to me. That said my favorite is Tim Burton's 1989 Batman. When I think of Batman, I think of the dark dreary scapes of Burton's Gotham. I think he was born to make a Batman movie. That is what Batman is all about, the dark, fighting not only against the most evil and wicked of villains (Joker) but fighting himself, his past. He doesn't have super powers, he is just a tortured man looking for avengance and revenge at once. Batman being my favorite comic book character and superhero, I am a fan of the original with all its "Pows" and "Biffs," but it represents a safer time where crime and those who perpetrated them are watered down and far too easily foiled by the good guys. Batman to me is the embodiment of our darkest innerselves, there is no innocence there. I was very dissapointed by the schumacher films. I thought Kilmer was a good Batman/Bruce Wayne, but the script was horrible. I'm not even going to get into Batman vs Robin. I'll just say Joel should have focused more on the story and less on the neon lights. Thank God Batman Triumphant never happened. Aronofsky wanted to do some crazy shit with Batman, but he didn't get the chance. I enjoyed the Nolan Trilogy. Great story and perfect casting. Ledgers performance as the Joker was my favorite of any actor who has portrayed a villain in the Batman verse. It literally killed him to play that role. Tragic. Loved Nolans reimagining of the characters. I wanted it to be darker still. I am concerened that Ben Affleck is not going to be able to deliver a fresh story or be able to bring the darkness a Barman movie deserves and needs. I'm not sure Deathstroke (Joe Manginiello) as the main villain is going to do it. We shall see.
