Damn, what a life he had. One of my favorite performances of his was his portrayal of the devil in Don Henley's "The Garden of Allah".
My all time favorite actor. When I think of Kirk Douglas, so many movies flash before my mind that it's hard to pick out a favorite. Some that I loved were: 1. Spartacus; 2. The Juggler; 3. Ulysses; 4. The Vikings; 5. Last Train from Gun Hill; 6. Saturn 3. Arguably the greatest actor ever.
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea! One of my favorite movies as a kid. To this day I'm be at the grocery store pushing the grocery cart and will randomly yell out, "Ramming Speed!"
Married for 65 years. Son of Russian Jews, which made his movies The Juggler and Cast a Giant Shadow especially powerful.
The most famous Chin in the movies, even more so than Bruce Campbell. Lived to 103 even after having a stroke at age 79. I gotta learn more about that.
Kirk was an icon and a maverick. One of the best actors of his time. To live to 103 after surviving a helicopter crash at 74 and then a stroke 5 years later....wow. We lost another great one.
