Sadly my last memory of her was the Portlandia Feminist Bookstore skit with Lamarcus

    RIP.

She directed one of the truly great sports movies.

    There's no crying in baseball.

I never thought I'd read Lamarcus and hilarious in the same sentence...I always liked Penny Marshall and enjoyed the skit sans LA

She was a brilliant film maker. She made some of the most heartwarming movies.

I met her 1 time by chance at a store. I said "oh wow, you're Penny Marshall, hello, I love your movies and loved Laverne and Shirley". Lame, I know.

She said "then bring it in", and hugged me. Then said hello to my wife and kids

    That was it. Super kind.

Goodbye Penny. And thanks for putting up with Lenny & Squiggy as much as you did. It may not have meant much to the world of light entertainment, But for a friendless, big schnoz having kid, growing up (who always knew he was going to be his town's version of Marty....) Your sitcom showed him how to help create the laughter and not just be the sole reason for it. :smiley-hailxin:

She directed A League of their Own.

    She produced Cinderella Man.

And she directed a not yet released documentary on Dennis Rodman.

She was a huge sports fan.

She also directed the movie, "Big." One of my favorite movies from that era.

One of the dumbest lines in movie history. Whoever wrote that obviously never had the experience of catching a ricochet bounce from a hard-hit grounder in the groin.

RIP, Penny. You brought a lot of laughter to many people. That's a precious gift.

I've played a lot of baseball and never saw that happen. On the other hand, I've broken three fingers and dislocated one. Never cried, well, not in public, for crying out loud. Men don't cry. Okay, you caught me, I cry at weddings but who could blame me, the bride is so beautiful.

I think Cinderella Man is one of the greatest sports movies ever made...it's safe to say that Penny hit a lot of home runs behind the camera
