You probably have never heard of her. The story needs to be told, although that's probably illegal now in Florida. After Nazis came to power in Germany a group of students in their teens and early 20s formed a clandestine group called White Rose. They had no power but they still posted handbills and distributed leaflets with anti Nazi information. Most of the group, including Traute's husband, were caught and executed. Although she was arrested she was able to hide her affiliation with White Rose and was sentenced to a year in prison. She was on a list for execution when the Nazi regime fell. After the war she emigrated to the US. One of those awful immigrants who have to be kept out. She later remarried. She was the last surviving member. 103, showing the good don't always die young.
