It may be the best thing IMO, why put alot of money into a guy whose probably going to up and leave the second he gets a chance to?

Because he has consistently put a great defense on the field...and, after 9 interviews he hasn't landed a job yet. Maybe he's a good coordinator but doesn't know how to make the next step.

It isnt his defense. Its lovie's, and he has a ton of good players. Thats why i dont think it is that big of a deal.

So Lovie is to blame for the Cover 2? I thought it was Dungy's scheme? Further, I though Rivera added elements of Philly's D which was where he was before Chitown.

This equals if not surpasses the Chargers boneheaded move of letting Marty S go.

The winner in this scenario is; Rivera.

Lovie is afraid his job might be taken by Rivera if he was let go. Just a random thought.

Not getting Lovie a contract extension would be far worse than letting Rivera go. Chicago probably didn't want to pay that much for 2 coaches and Rivera only gives his input. Lovie calls the shots like you said.

Yeah, he is the big winner going from coordinator to linebackers coach. When i said it was lovie's defense, i didnt mean he came up with the entire philiosphy, i mean he basically runs it. He is a defensive head coach, thus making D coordinator less important than O coordinator on the staff.

dumbass move, instead of building on the team we had 2 make it 2 the superbowl so we can actually win it next year, the team is falling apart.
