Why not grab someone like Sergei Kharitonov? He's a legit HW and fought in PRIDE FC as well. Hell he's fought 3 times in the last 2 years... that's legit enough IMO. OR is Sergei too much of a threat to win?

FWIW He has a 2005 win over UFC HW champ Fabricio Werdum too

They were talking about 45-year old TK as an upgrade over Fedor's original opponent.

Now word is they might try to have Fedor fight Kaido Höövelson, an Estonian sumo with a MMA record of 0-0.

We're probably making too much out of the situation. Fedor is 39 and lost three times straight the last time he had a run of good competition. He's not going to fight a game opponent and it doesn't really matter.

true, true, Fedor draws very little interest to me other than to see the result.

Fedor and Kaido still without opponents. Seems there is a chance they will fight each other.

The Sapp/Akebono fight will be under "shootfighting" rules, meaning kickboxing plus takedowns plus standing submissions but limitations on ground grappling. Should be the first time in a while we see Sapp go all out.

so for the GP, it SHOULD be king Mo vs Reljic at the end right? Of course who knows about the Brazilian or the Russian.... or how the lack of steroid testing will affect the outcome.

King Mo's side of the bracket seems designed to get him to the finals. On the other side you'd expect it to be Reljic or Ishii.

But these things virtually never go according to plan...

Kaido Hoovelson vs. Jerome LeBanner announced.

If Hoovelson can't get him down, LeBanner will wreck his face and legs.

    Still no opponent for Fedor.

The first show is being designated as a farewell to Saku.

The second show is being designated as the promotional launch.

^ Will be the first fight for him in a while. However he is fighting a former sumo with no experience, so, Japan!

Speaking of Japan--Fedor's opponent was announced today and it is, yet again, Jaideep Singh. And the MMA world lets out a sigh.

Even if Singh does the unthinkable it hardly matters.

Is there any reason to actually watch this card? Beyond getting the results and waiting for gifs of any cool moments I can't think of a reason to give this event much attention.

With the time zone difference? Probably worth watching the fights as they are uploaded the next day or two. I'm sure between these two events there will be a few worth seeing. JLB and Fedor's fights will probably be short enough to be gifs.

    Saku/Aoki might be good.
