bummer. Expected, but that means we're still stuck with Illic. I don't think he's going to get a minute's worth of time this season, at least in the NBA. Still no updated on BRob?
A shame. I was really impressed with how he played during summer league and thought he could help this team in many ways.

we shoulda played Mile a little during the preseason and hope he could make some nice plays were some team would take a chance on him...this was expected because of all the reports that nobody here or overseas wanted mile. maybe during the year we can get rid of him and bring hite back

I don't get why Illic dosen't take the buyout and play in the D-League with another contract. I'm lost..

But does he not recieve the money he would get when he finishes the year with the Nets in a buyout?

QUOTE (peg182)

i thought rod was willing to spend more? so much for that load of bullshit.

I'm sure he is, but is Robert Hite really worth the extra money?

I like Hite as much as anybody on this board but he's not a guy who's worth basically double the minimm, he just isn't. Sure there's guys who will contribute even less still on this team but they're here because at the time they seemed like a good idea and they just didn't work out, not every move is a home run. While Hite may have bring shooting and athleticism to the team I might have to argue that we are actually better off with less optons so we can get some semblance of a rotation come playoffs. Can anybody really see him leapfrogging Wright, DA, or Marcus when he gets back from injury? I can't and would much rather have that time given to those guys to get a good feel for the rest of the guys they're gonna be on the floor with when it really matters. Thorn turned Marc Jackson and Linton Johnson into Boki. While i'd say he more than has his work cut out for him this time, ya never know what may pop up and taking on Hite via waving one of those two bigger contracts (Mile, BRob) could actually hurt us from making a play later on if we need to make improvements.

I'm not surprised by this, unless there are a bunch of injuries, there just wasn't enough playing time available to justify the expense.
