This marks the end of an era.

Dating back to Don Mattingly we have always had a great Yankee farmhand in the mix.

    Mattingly was here from 83-95

Jeter, Bernie, and Mo carried us to Cano

Cano had carried us to the present

He is now a Mariner and all we are left with is Derek Jeter serving as a relic of the Fallen Roman Empire

There is no franchise farmhand to hand off to and there is no franchise farmhand anywhere to be seen on the horizon.

It's a sad day to be a Yankee fan. The last HOFer produced is gone. The next HOFer we produce may be sleeping in a crib in your house right now, he may later come from your loin. All I know is no one on Earth knows where the next one is right now, but we know the last one is in Seattle.

And with this I re-submit the only thing that can save us: Firing Brian Cashman

The Yankees are in a spot where they really need to hope guys like Sanchez and Mason Williams pan out to be big time players out of the farm.

I doubt they are Yankees come April. The FA class is slim. If we miss on Beltran/Choo they will turn back to emptying an empty farm. That's assuming anyone would even value a Yankee prospect at this point. Gary Sanchez in a package for Stanton? I don't know what we do here....

My only problem with Stanton is he's had leg and knee problems the last two years...

I wouldn't trade our prospects. I'm just throwing out a possible name we will make a stupid trade for however I'll be shocked if Sanchez and Gardner aren't traded either together or in separate deals.

Gardner was our 2nd best player in 2013, so our answer to losing our best player is going to be to trade our 2nd best player from last year.

And not only was Gardner our 2nd best player he was far and away our most cost feasible player. So we overpaid Ellsbury to play a position we had a good cost effective player at? Is that smart baseball management? And a 1 word answer is insufficient. If you think that's smart explain why.

...cost feasible?...he's a free agent next year.

...and NO one said trading Gardner is the answer...it's one option, of many...unless you think freeing up $27 Mil or so won't allow the Yanx to spend that money in other ares.

Bigblue, for stanton I trade our prospects. His leg problems are probably the only way he couls be available and if he is he is a STUD. Also very young
