<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Richard Roby sounds like he's ready to start cashing paychecks for making jump shots. When the topic of his future in basketball comes up, nothing Roby says leaves one in a position to realistically conclude he intends to return to the Colorado basketball team in the fall for his junior season. In fact, CU fans should probably treat Wednesday's home game in the National Invitation Tournament against Old Dominion (7:30 p.m.) as their final chance to see the 6-foot-6 guard from San Bernardino, Calif., play basketball in the Coors Events Center. CU students hoping Roby will return for one more season should probably break out their "One more year" chant early and often. And this time with feeling. Roby discussed the topic at length following Monday's practice. He said he is leaning 60 percent in one direction and 40 percent in the other but wouldn't say if the 60 percent was in favor of turning pro or staying in school. He did say he plans to have a press conference soon after the season ends to announce his decision, begging the question why he needs a press conference if he plans to announce he is going to stay in Boulder. If he does decide to enter the draft, Roby said he will do so with a testing-the-waters mentality and he won't hire an agent. As long as he does not hire representation, Roby could participate in pre-draft workouts and camps and still return to school if he went undrafted. The risk in this case doesn't seem to be whether he would be selected, but, rather, if he would be selected in the first round. First-round draft picks receive guaranteed contracts. Even the first pick in the second round is at risk of being cut and spending a year or more overseas or in the developmental league working to get back to the NBA. "I would never hire an agent unless I'm definitely sure, and I will definitely wait to do that until after all this stuff (camps and workouts) has gone down," he said. "My decision would definitely be to test the waters, not to just automatically get an agent and enter the draft." </div> Source
