<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Rockets will be sending two veterans and four recent draft picks to the NBA's Summer League in Las Vegas. The franchise revealed its 14-man summer league roster on Monday, a list that includes veterans John Lucas III and Steve Novak. The team, which will be led by Rockets assistant coach Elston Turner, is slated to play five games in six days on the University of Nevada-Las Vegas campus, beginning on July 10 against the Los Angeles Clippers. Lucas III and Novak will be playing for the Rockets for the second straight summer. During the 2006 summer league, both players were highly productive in guiding the Rockets to their second straight unbeaten summer on the Strip. Lucas III was the team's leading scorer with 23 points per game, while Novak averaged 16 points on 42.9 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Both played finished their first full season in the NBA last season. Joining Lucas III and Novak on the roster are 2006 second-round pick Lior Eliyahu and 2007 draft picks Aaron Brooks, Carl Landry and Brad Newley. Eliyahu, who spent the past season playing overseas, is vying to become the first Israeli-born player to play in the NBA. Since coming to the United States nearly two weeks ago, he has been working out at Toyota Center so that the Rockets can determine if he's ready for the NBA. The team's other collection of rookies -- Brooks, Landry and Newley -- will be making their debuts in Las Vegas after being selected in the 2007 NBA Draft. Brooks, a former point guard at Oregon, was the team's first-round pick and is expected to add speed to the roster. Landry, in the meantime, is expected to provide depth at power forward after a solid college career at Purdue and Newley arrives as a sharpshooter from Australia.</div> Rockets.com
