Yao Ming had a great game. This is his 3rd straight game with 20+ points and 10+ boards with 22 points and 15 boards. http://www.nba.com/games/20040117/MINHOU/boxscore.html

Remember late in the 4th Yao was open up in the post, no one guarded him, oh well. Great win for Houston.

they played excellent defense, holding garnett to 7 of 20 shooting and spree to 6 of 16. yeah, that wide open yao jumping up and down was well.. you know.

Maybe Yao is finally waking up.

Hope he is turning into the 20-10 force that everyone projected him to be. BTW great win by the Rockets, and the way Yao was calling for the ball made me laugh.

Wow this was a grrrrreat game...Yao with his 3rd straight 20/10 game...he seemed more active rebounding against a normally aggressive Wolves squad...Just awesome defense, really amazing...the interior defense is some of the best I've seen in a looooong time...Cato is playing exceptionally well...I love his passion and aggressiveness...Francis also played a quietly effective game with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists...the only weakness i saw was their trouble with the 2-2-1 press, but thats nit-picking...great game and a great win against a quality opponent...now lets not see a letdown against Memphis...

Yoa Ming really played well for your team cause everytime Sam, Spree & KG got in the lane he either block their shot or made them change it. I think he the reason why Spree missed those 4 wide open layups. Steve Francis played a great game as well, he used his big man exactly how your surpose to use him. He used him in the pick &roll to get himself easier shots instead of trying to go one on one. And he also allowed Yoa to be Yoa. He got Ming alot of good looks from mid range which Ming likes to shoot. And he also got the ball to Ming in the post against the t-wolves small front line. Well played game by Francis. But they still have 2 more matchups so it should be interesting.

26 points by half-time for the Timberwolves? God. Courtside Live showed Rockets dominating the glass.. 6 turnovers from Franchise though, ouch. Do you Rockets fans like JVG's style? Defense, defense defense.. might not be exciting to watch, but at least it wins games.

I love JVG's style. As a basketball purist, I have a strong appreciation for hard-nosed defense that crashes the boards and stops any inside scoring, as well as an offense that scores off of set plays that are based on screening and ball movement. It's a pleasure for me to watch the rockets play [IMG]

I didn't watch the game but I just watched the highlights for this game and KG and co. looked tired for some reason. KG kept on bricking..they weren't really on form..maybe the Rockets had something to do with it, maybe not [IMG]

Wow, im shocked at least that the Rockets one this game and even more shocked that they absolutely dominated the Timberwolves. I thought the Rockets played a phenominal game on both sides of the court. On defense they did a fantastic job in contesting shots. Basically every shot Minnesota took was a contested one up into the end of the game. I also thought the Rockets did a great job of playing help-side defense. Every time KG put the ball on the floor going to the basket he has 4 Rockets players swarming him. I can honestly say that the Rockets defense the first half has to be some of the defense I have ever seen. They did nothing short of man handle the Wolves by taking them completely out of the game. On offense, I really like the fact that Yao was a key part of the offense. Im starting to see a trend that I like; Yao Ming being a force to be reckoned with down low.

Rocket Players Stats
Steve Francis - 19 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 6 turnovers
Cuttino Mobley - 13 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists
Jim Jackson - 11 points, 5 rebounds, 5 turnovers
Kelvin Cato - 10 points, 10 rebounds
Yao Ming - 22 points, 15 rebounds, 2 blocks
Maurice Taylor - 16 points, 3 rebounds

Key Stats

[*]Rockets limited the Big 3 to only 57 points. The other players for the Wolves only scored 19 points
[*]Rockets shot 48.6% from the field compared to Minnesota's 36.7%
[*]Rockets had 44 points in the paint, Wolves 22
[*]Rockets out rebounded Wolves 51-28
[*]Yao Ming had over 15 shots and was a factor on offense
[/list]

Complete Box Score

The Rockets next game is Monday in Memphis against the Grizzlies.

It looks like the Rockets are starting to put it together...we know how well they can play due to huge wins against the Lakers, Wolves and the Knicks...but they needs to start doing this every night...
