Will become a restricted FA after this season, currently on the suspended list. There must be some real problems with this kid, cos he has enough raw talent to seemingly ensure Houston would pick up the 4th year.

    Very interesting.

The Rockets had to make this move. He has been arrested for possessing marajuana and he deserted the team and wont give reasons why to the organization. Not to mention that he shot at a girl at his house just recently. He is not someone you want around your organization. I frankly agree with the Rockets on this one.

Does anyone remember when Griffin punched his teammate at Seton Hall? Ever since then he has been labeled a headcase.

Nope you're dead right Dex, just had a search around the net for some more info on this and it's really a no-brainer. What a waste of talent though, very sad.

I remember it like it was yesterday, after that season he came out early and everyone thought he would be a top three pick but because of his "incident" he slipped to the Nets who made a great trade sending him for Jefferson and Collins

This is pure BS on Griffin's half. I wish someone paid me millions to play the game I love. To play it at the top level in the world.

Why do people throw away their careers when there are thousands upon thousands of people who would just lobe one chance at making it to the league.

I never can understand this. Millions of dollare for playing a game.....a game you love.

He wasted his career. He has no one to blame but himself.

I hope for himself he figures this out.

The option was not picked up because Houston has too many power forwards as well: Kelvin Cato, Mo Taylor and Alton Ford...

Houston having too many power forwards had nothing to do with them declining the option on Eddie Griffin.

He wasn't given an extension because of his off the court behavior was unsatisfactory and his conduct was "detrementle to the team."

If he did not have the off the court problems he would have been given the contract extension.

Houston picking up Griffin's option would have made for a PR nightmare of titanic measure. There's no way anyone in the league touches this guy. He truly needs help before he can even begin to consider resuming his basketball career.
