He was disappointed and relieved, a combination that left the third-year forward determined to "prove to everybody that they made a wrong decision."</div> Well, looks like Rockets aren't going to focus on Nachbar. IMO he is inconsistent and hasn't shown me much. He has surely shown flashes, but flashes won't get you far in the NBA. <font color="red"><font size="-2">Hey, I just reorganized your post to make things seem neater. Well, I think we're giving up on him too soon. Nachbar was always behind someone else in his years as a Rocket, and never got a chance to show what he can do. He was highly praised when he was drafted, but he's been buried ever since. I hope we can work something out after he becomes a free agent and does well in this season.
I think this is a great move by the Rockets, as we have bird rights to him. Nachbar is still ours, and we can offer him a new contract after this season. This will push him to do better -- but there is the chance of him breaking out and going somewhere else for more money. Nachbar doesn't really fit in the system, and if we could get someone who does (namely a point guard), that would be a alot better. The downside to this is that we could lose him out, and that we will lose a lot of depth, unless CD and Les are gonna go after a SF. Just my 2 cents.
Well, if Nachbar does break out, I expect us to want to match any offer he gets. Right now, Jim Jackson looks like he could hold as a starter for two more seasons, then I expect Nachbar to shine and step into the starting role at SF.
I agree, what other choice did the Rockets have? Boki showed no signs of immense progress and could not even produce in consistent PRESEASON minutes...its been three years now and it hasnt looked as if his game has changed significantly, except that he slashes to the basket more...But I think this was a predictable move on the Rockets' part as they have given Nachbar every chance to prove himself...
I think Nachbar does a great job slashing and getting to the basket. For his size, he is very fast. But he has trouble finishing. He needs to get himself fouled to get to the line. I still have hope for him, maybe he'll become a great shooter. Peja didn't shoot too well his 1st 2 seasons either. I really hope Nachbar picks up his game, and can learn to score. He has already improved significantly on defense.
I think its great move. Sorry, but in MY opinion, he won't progress much in just one year, but even if he does prove to posess something great, we probably have enough cap space to sign him. If we do lose him, we a valuable SF bench player and potential future starter. However, we then can sign someone else if we do have enough cap space (I don't know about this). Its a win win situation unless he really becomes a star and we don't have enough cap space to sign a decent player.
We won't have enough cap space. Nachbar was on his rookie contract, so even if he comes off the books, the most we can offer any free agent is still only the MLE. However, we will have a right to match any offer he gets because he will be a restricted free agent. My opinion is that if he's worth it, pay him.,
