. . . a poster on the Rockets forum at R***GM. This was posted on page 26 in their Sixers/Rockets game thread.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting "MsEddie":</div><div class="quote_post">Well, gentlemen, I just got back to my hotel from the game... a few tidbits.

First, IMO, AI was without a doubt the difference in the game. He and Rafer were battlin, but AI obviously got the best of Alston and anyone else who tried to guard him. Btw, AI crossed Head, and it was CRAZY!!! My jaw literally dropped. While it was a very disappointing loss, I must say it was quite a treat seeing AI bring his at least "A-" game! (don't hate the great)

Second, Yao is the ONLY player on our team (w/the exception of maybe Hayes) that's playing w/any FIRE right now. Our team looked like they were going through the motions...

Third, I don't care what ANYBODY says Van Gundy is NOT the man to lead us to the promise land... I could make a detailed list of his *****-ups tonite, but I'll spare everyone (plus, I am damn tired - smile). How does one not draw up plays that ensure ONE of your two superstars gets a good look w/the game on the line is besides me!!!

Lastly, I had the good fortune of running into a couple of my fellow USC alums who play for the Comets, and they obviously know all the Rox players fairly well. And, they BOTH said that NO ONE on our team likes Van Gundy. So, don't believe the HYPE or all the B.S. players kick in the media about JVG b/c in private no one likes him!!!</div>

Funny how these sort of things only surface when the team is losing.

I guess they weren't watching the game. Yao clanked the last couple shots he got, which were all good looks while McGrady made a couple nice three's and jumpers in the end to make it close. Don't understand what they're talking about there.

Never knew WNBA players and NBA players knew each other that well. Don't they just share the same gym?

Have you seen what happened to the Rockets when Yao sit around the end of the 3rd quarter. We were leading by double digit, but once Yao gets his rest, Sixers made a huge run. It's not Yao's fault he clanked the last few buckets of the game. He had to play the whole fourth quarter which made him really exhausted by the end. Tracy played well only in the third quarter but made only a basket or two in the fourth. The only significant basket tracy made was when we were already down by 6 with a minute left.

Anyway... what the hell was Wesley thinking when he threw up two consecutive 3s when he's only a role player with the game on the line?

Wesley's our best 3-point shooter, and he was open. I really don't think they were bad shots. If one of them went in, we would have all said, "Great gutsy play!"

The word clanked is misleading. Yao shots looked like going in but somehow rimmed out. They were shots he normally made.

I'm not blaming Yao either. Its just the guy above said that the superstars weren't getting looks, which in fact, they were. Its just that they weren't going in or rimming out.

Wesley was wide open on both those shots, I don't see any reason why he shouldn't have taken those.

Afterward, coach Jeff Van Gundy wasn't in the mood to hand out any rave reviews. Instead, he ranted. Van Gundy lashed out against the Rockets' play in their past two games, singling out their effort, intensity on defense and shot selection on offense. & "I'm tired of saying the same thing," Van Gundy said Thursday. "I'm tired of apologizing for the team's lackluster effort. I feel like most nights when I walk in that (media) room, I have to apologize for the team's effort. Not for the result, but for the effort."</div>

Rafer was worst than wesley imo..he can't even run a play and missed so many 3s that would have increased the lead. FOr god's sake they were open 3's...

You dont think they were bad shots? The first one was ok, he was wide open. But he sucked. The second one there was a guy in front of him. That shot was ugly and made no sense to me. He shouldn't have taken that one when T-mac and Yao were not even got there positions. He is stupid.

Some things I dont like about Van Gundy's coaching are his subsitutions. Whenever Yao catches fire and starts making his shots in, he gets subsitute by Dikembe Mutombo and then the other team starts catching fire.

Well VG can't play Yao the whole game..he gets tired and needs to get rested. And yeah..whenever dikembe comes in for yao..the other team will most likely make a run since yao is the only scoring threat other than tmac

Yeah i hear what you are saying..but 33 mins per game? I have seen Yao play more and it doesnt seem to effect him that much? A good example is Yao's play after the all-star break: hes on fire yes, but if you guys havn't noticed his average minutes per game are going up (32 mins/game to 33.9 mins, I believe/game) ---> result, 20/10 man. I think yao needs at least to average 38 mins/game. He is, technically and statistically, the best center in the league right now. JVG needs to take advantage of that...
