    T-MAC

T-mac need to be the center of the offense with yao the second option.

Yao might be the first option one day, But until he imporves enough to be that. he should be the second option.

Put the ball in T-Mac's hand and lets see what happens. It cant be worse than what is happening with Yao

This may work out, but you can't leave Yao out of the offense (and yes, I know you didn't say to).

Tonight, without Yao, the Rockets didn't do anything special, really. McGrady was in a one-on-one battle with Nowitzki, and plus...players get amped when the game is on the line, but without Yao, the game wouldn't have even went into overtime.

Yao is a big part of the game, both offensively and defensively. He'll come along in due time...he's just in a slump, and could still be suffering from an elbow injury. McGrady as the primary scoring option could take the Rockets above .500, but without Yao Ming, Houston is like the 2003 Orlando Magic, except with Jim Jackson.

T-Mac had a great game last night, but we can't base his performance on just one game. The game before last night's, McGrady had a poor night with only 16 points, and the game before that he went 1-12 from the floor. There is no telling what he'll get next game, since he is not the most consistent player in the league.

Yao, meanwhile, had a good game last night IMO. Although he was contained to only 13 points, he was a monster on the boards with 14, and some crucial plays down the stretch. Without Yao, the defensive focus would be shifted entirely to McGrady, but with him teams are more hesitant to double-team because they know that McGrady can and will pass it off to Yao.

Yao was the main focus on offense before last night's game. What happened to us in those 16 games?

If you say that Orlando lost last year because of McGrady being the focal point on offense, you're horribly wrong. If he wasn't taking the shots, who would have been taking them? Andrew Declerq?

Yao should definetly be the center of the team. He isnt acting like it though, he needs to step up, take more shots.

I think it's going to be a case of who's going on a specific night. I think T-Mac should definitely be the first scoring on most nights but if a team puts single coverage on Yao they should go ahead and take it inside every time. But since most teams double Yao down low, it's probably a good idea to let T-Mac do his thing and try to open things up for Yao and the rest of the team.

For now, I think T-Mac hsould be our first option. Yao is still developing, and yes, him as the 2nd-option is still good. We lost against the Mavs because of the sustem and because Yao didn't play well. If we was our second scoring option, he would perform much better, while T-Mac is still the prolific scorer he once was.

I agree with what realdealbneal said. I believe they should run the offense through Mcgrady only because he is the more established player, and you know he can score in clutch situations, and keep your team in a game like the Mavs game. Though without Yao being involved in the offense the Rockets are just last years Magic a team who gives the ball to one guy stands and watches. They both need to be involved for the team to win. I think you start the game by giving Yao his shots, but then if the game is close let Mcgrady begin to take over a little.

If you look at the teams we've lost to on this losing streak, the only won we should have been expected to win was Denver. We lost to Sacremento and Utah on the road, the Denver and Detroit at home, and then Dallas on the road. It sucks to lose, but maybe in the long run it'll be good for us. We went through some pretty horrid stretches in the 94/95 season in which we won a championship. Let's not give up on the coach too quickly.

T-Mac should be carrying the load while Yao starts to develope. Once he developes, him and T-Mac should be getting around the same FGAs a night. But for now it's better to have the ball in the hands of T-Mac. Ofcourse, it could just be that T-Mac had one good night and won't repeat the same performance again.

I'd like to believe that but you're making too many excuses. These games that we've lost, most of 'em we've played terrible..bad rebounding, bad everything.thx to jvg..if we played well and lost..that's a different story. I think the rockets regret releasing eddie griffin..look how good he's doing for the wolves..he could've grabbed rebounds for us..yeah he made some mistakes but kobe made mistakes and he's forgiven just like that and still in the lakers..what a waste!!!!

T-mac may be the best offensive player in the league, we need to take advantage of that. Yao the second best offensive player on our team and should be the second option.

Put the ball in T-mac's hands and let him create for Yao and the other players, Yao is not creating for his teamates simply because he keeps lossing the ball. Until that changes put the ball in T-macs hands

I really don't see how that is going to solve any problems for you--by putting the ball into McGrady's hands that is. This team has so many deep rooted problems at the moment and McGrady alone will not solve them. Going by that route you'll be on your way to becoming the Houston Magic of 04. I remember last year Tracy scored 62 points and we still lost. Look on the bright side though, after this season is over you'll have a good chance of landing a top pick and maybe a shot at Phil Jackson

All five of those teams were better or hotter than we currently are. It's not a surprise that we should lose. There is no guarantee that those teams would have beaten us, but losing to the Mavs was definitely not Van Gundy's fault. You saw the game, and I can guess that you must have been happy when we led with less than a minute to go. Were you blaming Van Gundy then?

Eddie Griffin was a cancer on the team, and at the time we released him there was no guarantee he would even play for us again. The Nets had also signed him and released him, so we certainly were not the only ones wrong.

well this is just my opinion.

as a few other guys have already stated i think t-mac also should be the first option on the team also.

I believe if t-mac is the first option on the team then he can score slash and what not. aqnd then get teams to focus on him and throw the ball at yao when the clocks down or just let him work by getting rebounds.

I say let bob sura tracy and jim jackson all be aggressive. slap a rebounding pf in there with yao and let both of those guys work the boards.

I think vangundy should takes notes from van gundy and see how they use shaq. ( by the way i just noticed how both van gundys have the most dominating centers int he game today, wow thats cool) From my perspective it seems to me they either let him work off the boards due to wades driving and drawwing so much atention or they throw the ball in to shaq late in the shotclock so other teams cant possibly double or triple team him at times.

now i know teams may not be trippling yao as shaq but i believe anything could help yao at this point. becasue as trip said yao was a monster on the boards. so i believe let yao work off rebounds and put back dunks until he feels a groove then maybe the team can change it up and dump it in to him a couple of times.

but i just really think they have to be strategic they souldnt just come down the court and throw it in to him.

Stop blaming Jeff Van Gundy, hes not the ones out there playing the games. Yao Ming is going to be the number one option, period. When you have a 7'5 center, that can play basketball, hes always gonna be the number one option. Now that also means McGrady is going to get the ball, but he should be coming off the ball, driving to the basket, or passing the ball to Yao. We need a point guard to create for McGrady, which Barrett has shown qualities of. The Rockets need to rebound, defend, hit shots, and most importantly play with some heart.

Yao Ming, at this stage of his career, is a slightly improve version of Rik Smits. The way he's played so far this season (tentative, passive, too concientious, etc.) indicates to me that he's not ready to be the man on this team. Just because he's big and a talented player, that doesn't make him the right person to run the offense through. He need to have the mentality for it as well.

McGrady proved a couple years ago in Orlando that he can lead a team, when he scored 32 ppg (in a low-scoring era, this is an amazing accomplishment). I really believe Yao should be a talented role player at this stage in his career. No need to rush him ahead of schedule. He doesn't have the temperament or confidence to be a dominant star, but hopefully it will come in time. Until then, he should just concentrate on getting rebounds and blocking shots, and maybe average numbers like 16 ppg, 11 rpg, 2 bpg. If he can do that, and McGrady is allowed to take over and direct the offense, I think we'll be much more successful.

Scoring points doesnt make you a leader. McGrady went to the playoff that year, took a 3-1 lead in the first round, said he was excited to be in the 2nd round, and lost the series 4-3. Thats not a leader...
