The Rockets aren't running. They're walking.

It only says that the Rockets are a long shot. I don't see happening. Francis' contract probably wont allow it. We would have to give up around 3 players for Steve. I'd love to see Francis back in a Rockets uniform, but I just can't see that happening.

The Magic most likely won't want a point guard with Nelson and the newly acquired Carlos Arroyo, so we would keep Alston if we do indeed land Francis. We can play Francis alongside Alston in the backcourt, giving us a trio of ballhandlers in the starting lineup who can all push the ball and make big-time shots.

To get Francis and absorb his $13 million per year, I think we would need to part ways with David Wesley. Stromile Swift might also tickle the Magic's fancy as he can do well on the break with the Magic's new lineup, and Luther Head could be shipped as well.

    Wesley/Swift/Head for Francis?

Why? i think this is our chance to win the title... Francis, T-mac, Yao, unblieveable, it just a dream come true man...

Don't get me wrong, i like Skip and i think he's great player but you can't say no for Francis, if the Rockets has a chanse to trade for Francis they can't say no.

it is a long-shot possibility but everything can heppen in Basketball... right?

naw... we keep alston.. and we make steve play the 2. i think they would want our 1st round pick as well... since it could be pretty low.

Tracy , Yao and Francis sounds nice but I really doubt it would work out. I'm sure Tracy and Steve will bump heads, on who should have the ball more.

It would be a terrible idea. Great competitor and loyal teammate, but he simply is not a good point guard. We need guys who can spot-up shoot the ball, or guys who know how to move the ball quickly to an open man. Francis can't do either well.

I just think we have our main scorer in T-Mac, Yao as an Awesome 1.5 option (not really a two cuz while T-Mac is pretty guaranteed as top scorer Yao can be any night as well) and Steve would wanna be a "1.5" or first option. Plus hasn't he said he doesn't work with JVG after that last year together? I thought he blamed him for his PPG dropoff and less than stellar play...

Can you imagine the criticism Orlando would take if they ended up trading Francis back to Houston to pair him with T-Mac?

I'm not sure if their franchise could recover from such a deal. The Rockets don't have much to offer them. The best young player is Luther Head, and the potential of 2006 draft pick. If the Rockets acquired Francis, they might actually have enough to climb back in the playoff race, which would make the 2006 pick non-lottery.

The Rockets are having enough problems feeding the ball into the post.

Hmmm, Francis as our SG would be nice. We would keep Rafer's ball handling and penetrating abilities, but get a nice 3rd scoring option in Francis.

    Alston
    Francis
    T-Mac
Swift/Howard (we will have to get rid of one)
    Yao

Guaranteed to make the WCF imo.

I'm not sure if adding Francis guarantees the Rockets even make the playoffs this late in the year, let alone the WCF.

30 games left to make up 4 games on the 8th seed Lakers. The Lakers have a soft schedule in the 2nd half, and once Chris Mihm returns they won't lose to teams like Atlanta and Charlotte.

Adding Francis definitely increases the odds, but WCF seems unrealistic. I just can't see the Rockets beating the Spurs, Mavs, or Suns in a 7-game series as the road team.

With Rafer's stellar play as of late, Yao has got the ball enough (bar against the Clippers, where he had TWO freethrows?!).

Rafer is the Rocket's Point Guard, the man is amazing for this team, and if his numbers don't show it, his play calling does. We don't need another max contract on this team, especially one running for 3 more seasons. Francis back would be nice, but I REALLY do think Rafer is a better fit. Even with Francis at the 2, he's not the catch-n-shoot guy the Rockets need. I don't think, if he came, him and Tracy would butt heads over the ball, maybe over who Yao loves more.. [IMG]

I don't think that Francis will get traded within the Eastern conference, usually when you're moving a superstar its to another conference where he can't hurt you.

I would love to see Steve back in a Rockets uniform, but I wouldn't want to give up Luther Head. But with the way that Bogans is playing, and the promise he's showing, he could be potential trade bait.

I don't like the idea of trading for Francis. You would then end up with 3 guys that like to shoot the ball a lot. Plus didn't JVG an Francis argue alot when he played in Houston if I remember right?

I don't think Orlando would want Bogans (already let him go once) Houson would probly have to give up head, Swift, filler.

Steve's miserable in Orlando, he'll do whatever JVG says at this point.

All I really want to say is that if the Rockets got a good third scoring option like maybe Francis, Richard Jefferson or especially Michael Redd. We have a good shot at beating out Dallas, or even SA in the first round. After that, our confidence will be so high that no one would stop us, till maybe the WCF...and that is a maybe.

But oh well. Watching the Rockets this season has probably lowered my age to where I will have hair that looks like JVGs.
