<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Rockets began the free-agent recruiting period with an 11 p.m. call to Spurs guard Brent Barry on Monday, Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said. The Rockets telephoned Barry as soon as NBA rules allowed in an effort to land the free agent, who got away last season when he was released by the Seattle SuperSonics but chose to return to the San Antonio Spurs.</div> Houston Chronicle
this makes me sick...all the teams getting "much" better out there, and we're thinking about signing an old ass brent barry?!?!?!?! WTF Daryl Morey, get on your grind....after that bad draft in which one of the players is going over seas while the other 2 will most likely sit and rot on the bench, because we already have players at those positions; YOU need to get your BS straight. Should've drafted douglas roberts (since we needed a scorer who could create his own shot) and we have to be trying something more than signing Robert Horry and Brent Barry..........................
Well I think there is a reason CDR dropped from a possible top 20 pick to mid second-rounder, and therefore am glad we didn't risk taking him. I don't see why you think Greene and Dorsey won't get to play. Greene can back up the 2/3 spots while Dorsey can be a third center/power forward. Maybe even in the second half of the season, he could be Yao's backup.
Tmac needs to start talking to the media like Kobe did and demand that he get some help. Granted Yao might be a little insulted by that, but if he GM is going to keep acting stupid then Tmac should do like Kobe did. When you have two allstars and you can't get out of the 1st round there is a problem with either your lineup or your coaching. You have to look at what the missing pieces are. I don't think that there is any chance that the missing piece is a veteran 3 point shooter who dunked from the freethrow line once upon a time.
Believe in Morey. There's no way we'll spend the MLE on signing Brent Barry alone. I still think that last year had Yao stayed healthy, we'd have made it to the WCF. Factor in that we'll have a team next year more familiar with Rick Adelman and three new contributors (Greene, Dorsey and Francis) and a big expiring contract in Bobby Jackson who we can use to get some help during the season, there's not much need for anything more than a solid bench scorer, which Brent Barry still is.

We'll see. I thought the Rockets draft went well. We turned a number 25 pick into a 28, 33, and (probable) second round pick next year. When you're drafting that late, there's going to be a less than even chance of getting a rotation player that can contribute. By essentially doing a 3-for-1 move, the Rockets have increased those odds. It should have been clear at the beginning of the offseason that a 55-win team is probably not going to improve itself via the draft. We don't have a lot of cap space to be aggressive players in the free agent market either. Remember, we're still trying to resign Landry, so we don't want to burn the MLE at this point pursuing someone else. Barry is a old, but he's a reliable shooter and ball-handler. He'd be a solid pick up. If you're looking for a big, season-changing move, it will probably have to come through trade. And don't be surprised if it doesn't happen in the offseason. The best trades can usually be had midseason.

Good to see you again durvasa. I'm ready for another round of Morey debating. I have a lot to say about the Dorsey draft pick...

You still want him gone, or have you settled down a bit?
I love it when durvasa restores order. Morey is owning the Spurs and the NBA draft. The Original White Flight Crew Bob Sura Jon Barry Scott Padgett Ryan Bowen The new and improved White Flight Crew. WFC 2.0 Luis Scola Brent Barry Steve Novak Shane Battier
We wont be lacking shooting next season. Mac, Novak, Barry, Battier, and Head are all good shooters. Our big man can shoot, and our sophomores are all decent shooters.

battier is mixed....odd conversation for me to jump into Barry is a good pickup,....finally somebody else that can handle the ball. He has good handles and of course he can shoot, he will fit in nicely. I thought Donte was a great draft pick. Finally the Rockets got some size and athleticism on the bench. I can't wait to see he and TMac on the floor together. With Dorsey, C.Hayes is a little redundant. Dorsey is a guy that can take a pass from TMac and posterize somebody. I can see Head, Francis, b.Jackson, and C.Hayes looking to get unloaded
