Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey announced today that the team has recalled guard Isaiah Canaan from Houston's single-affiliation NBA D-League partner Rio Grande Valley. Canaan (6-0, 188, Murray State), who was re-assigned to the Vipers on Jan. 20, suffered a strained right hamstring in Rio Grande Valley's game vs. the Tulsa 66ers (1/27/14). A return date for Canaan has yet to be determined at this time. Canaan will complete his rehabilitation with the Rockets. Selected by the Rockets with the 34th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, Canaan has averaged 21.5 points, 8.1 assists and 4.1 rebounds in 17 games(16 starts) with Rio Grande Valley this season. Through Jan. 29, Canaan leads the D-League in assists per game (8.1) and ranks seventh in the league in scoring average (21.5). He was also named along with Pierre Jackson of the Idaho Stampede as the NBA D-League Co-Performers of the Week for games played Dec. 2-8. Canaan was again named along with Terrence Williams of the L.A. D-Fenders as D-League Co-Performers of the Week for games played Jan. 20-26. Press release from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers
