I do honestly believe that Houston is the better team when it comes to Dallas. Mavericks were very lucky during game 3 and stealing it in the dissapointing fourth quarter (including some ****** calls). Along with a crappy officiated game 4 the Mavericks strike again (with Dirk who is a dirty little ***** that plays cheap and tries to sneak in cheap licks). Well straight to game 7. I do not believe the rockets lost on crappy game play. I STRONGLY BELIEVE that part of the deal with Van Gundy and David Stern was to throw game seven. Stern WAS FURIOUS at Van Gunfy for accusing the league for its integrity. So Stern told Van Gundy that if you want to keep your damn job, you must announce that you lied about the secret official, and had no proof. Stern also told Van Gundy to BLOW game seven. Stern closed the case after game 6 and the day on or before game seven. This makes you wonder...What the hell was part of the deal between JVG and Stern? I have led to this conclusion. JVG LET T Mac and YAO get there points, because he wants everyone to know they can show up...But he made the rest of the Rockets players play *****! Did anyone else notice how differently they all shot up the ball? That is my 2 cents. Call me biased, or agree with me. Facts lead to facts. Why else would Stern have let JVG go off easily? Stern said that this team WOULD NOT MAKE IT TO ROUND 2 (reffering to the rockets) on TNT. Think about the last paragraph deeply...
please think again before stating this bold comment... Why would JVG let go game 7? to save his carrier? Do you really think he rather choose to save his job as a coach rather than bringing his team to the 2nd round playoff? do you really think JVG is the type of coach who would dissapoint his players and millions of fans around the world just to save his ass? I dont think JVG is that type of coach, in fact i dont think ANY NBA COACH is that type of coach. I dont know anything about stuffs that happened between JVG and stern. Maybe its true that stern forced JVG to admit that he lied about the secret official, maybe its true because JVG later on said he lied then stern forgive him, maybe it's damn wrong to say that JVG would purposely lose game 7 in order to save himself.

Unless that was part of the "deal" and its all just a conspiracy within a conspiracy. Dear god!
I think thats bull, we just didnt play hard game 7... its not a conspiracy...Stern would want us to play on because it means Yao moves on, which attracts a wider national audience...which means more ratings...I would imagine that Stern is a huge Rockets "fan" because Yao only gives his beloved league more exposure internationally, as well as reaches new demographics...
JVG is not a type of coach to save his ass instead to get his team to the 2nd round, he is a honest coach with an integrity, we just didnt play good thats all
The referree really did call JVG. JVG did not make it up. Stern made him either give up his source or lie and say that he made the whole think up. He chose to lie in order to save his source. Stern did not make him throw a game and Stern would not do that. More importantly to us, JVG would never throw a game like that. The only deceit that has occurred is JVG lying when he said that he made the whole thing up. He doesn't want to give up his source and betray his friend. In my opinion, he should have just apologized, but not claimed he maid it all up. He has a right to hide his source and he should have stuck to his guns on that matter. As far as the Rockets and game 7, they saw that they were going to lose and they got all frantic and upset, causing the blowout. They blew it in game 4 and I knew that was really the end of it all--even though they played really well in game 6 (sort of the last hoorah). Phoenix will beat Dallas and they would have beaten Houston too. So would have the Spurs. The Rockets need something else, like maybe a really good power forward, before they'll be a REAL contender. They're a good team with a little more building to do.

I do understand that Yao is more ratings, but when the integrity is on the line? Think about it... HONESTLY TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION. After Houston was blown out of the series by forty points, everyone was saying Dallas deserved it more. That Dallas was the better team, with or without officials. It seems that Stern wanted to show Dallas is a better team and that they can easily get the win on Houston. >>>Imagine if game seven was close, and the officials made a bad call that costs the Rockets the chance of winning the game (like game 5) then EVERYBODY would be stuck on this official ****. People would hate the calls they made and contest everyone. This would cause the NBA to change up the way they officiate the game. Better officials that could possibly call almost EVERY foul and every other small call (that the officials usually miss)l would cost the NBA so much money. It would slow the game down (requiring more air time) and games would need 3 hours of air time. The NBA is too fast paced to have perfect officials. If you think about it step by step, and not a stupid conspiracy, then you will understand where I am coming from. The NBA is a multibillion dollar business. And they have had enough negative attention for one year *Auburn Hills*. This could have costed them a whole city of ratings, along with other people that do not live in Houston. I am sure JVG understood what he announced publicly, is basically **** over the NBA. All of the rockets players were told by JVG that this was not going to be there year. They simply understood why they had to lose, and they didnt care about the loss after the game. LOOK AT THE DAMN DETAILS, I'M TRYING TO LET YOU HARDCORE ROCKETS FANS KNOW WHAT HAPPENED! ""This lost will just make me tougher and i promise we will be back next season, we will be back." T-mac He will be back...After his team purposely throw game 7, he know they will go all the way next year. Jon. Watch the language - d00d.
No way was the game thrown. JVG would be making a better career move by getting to the second round than throwing the game.
I'm sorry, but you are incorrect, sir. I don't believe that any professional team would throw a game. In fact, no team should ever throw a game, its against the very principles of sports. edited personal attack-44
igotask8board, don't curse its against Justbball policies. Alot of the Houston players are veterans such as Mutumbo, Sura, James, Wesley, and Barry that haven't won a ring before and don't have much time left it them. Why would they just purposely lose because of Van Gundy? Okay, and say Stern told them about all this with the ratings and stuff. Why the heck would the players throw away the game for the league? What can Stern do about it? Absolutely nothing. If he suspended them or something, people would know about this "conspiracy" and ratings would really drop. Why can't you just admit this- our players played hard but Dallas just shutdown the role players. Can you say anything about McGrady and Yao's points? Dallas shot the lights out and defended the other guys well so we couldn't score. No conspiracies.

Quoting igotask8board:

I believe in this "conspiracy" (as you like to call it) because none of the Rockets players seemed to care about being blown out at game seven after leading 2-0. What incentive does the NBA have to force the Rockets to lose the series? The Rockets are far more marketable than the Mavs. It's also completely unbelievable that the Rockets players would consciously throw a game for Van Gundy like that. It means too much to them. You could see that they were visibly upset during the second. McGrady was literally in tears during the fourth quarter.
Quote:

HONESTLY TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION. The regular season proved that as well (they had 58 wins while having to deal with far more injuries than the Rockets). After the first two games, there's no question that they outplayed the Rockets in every game except game 6. That's four out of 5 games. And while game 5 had some quesetionable calls, there's no guarantee that the Rockets would have won if those calls went the other way. The Mavs have proved throughout the season that they were better in close games than the Rockets. Again, I you should first consider WHY Stern would want Houston to lose. What would his incentive be? This notion that the NBA would ask Houston or any team to throw a game is completely ludicrous.
Quote:

>>>Imagine if game seven was close, and the officials made a bad call that costs the Rockets the chance of winning the game (like game 5) then EVERYBODY would be stuck on this official ****. It's not even a well-thought out conspiracy theory. Imagine if the Rockets were just having a bad game and the Mavs were just a better team. The Rockets have demonstrated that they can play horribly at times during the regular season. Even in the second half of the year, there were some stinkers (home loss to Utah). Dallas has demonstrated that they can play brilliantly when they're on a roll offensively. It's far more believable that the Rockets just got their butts kicked and lost their focus and composure in the second half then the conspiracy you describe.
Quote:

I am sure JVG understood what he announced publicly, is basically fucking over the NBA. I'm glad this is just a joke, versus something you actually believe. I was worried there for a while.
igotask8board, what are you talking about. The nba doesnt work like that. We dont schedule losses. A lot of sport leagues work like that, and i think that is influencng you that the nba is rigged. Lets just move on.
Rigged.... NEVER Even if the NBA asked the Rockets to throw the game I dont think that their pride would allow it. Saying the game was rigged is such a big statement. Even bigger than the one Van Gundy made. You need to be fined $200,000.
I have to point out something that Rick Barry said. There should be massive incentives in contracts for winning playoff games, or a playoff series. It would make those players that while gifted, but care more about money than the game work harder to prolong the season.
