Whos a better player in their PRIME Ben Wallace or Dennis Rodman? :g: i cant really decide too hard Rodman is better he played more agressive Defense than wallace IMO
I got to lean towards Dennis Rodman because crashes the boards at all times and is really aggressive on the defensive end. Ben Wallace is also a really great player however I think he is a much better defender, 4 times defensive player of the year should explain it. My vote is still for Rodman--he can do nearly everything Ben Wallace can do except for blocking shots.
Rodman. He is the better rebounder, and equal defenders I think. Plus, Dennis had 3 championships, and Ben only has 1...
Rodman. He averaged 10+ RPG, for 21 straight years. He averaged 15+ RPG 7 times! He's a winner, he won 3 championships himself..Big Ben is great, he's not as good of a rebounder..But then again..NOBODY IS! He's a good shotblocker, and defender..But I gotta give it to Dennis Rodman..
Personally I think Big Ben's defense is severly overrated, Rodman had shutdown D in the paint and could defend the perimeter effectively
rodman because if u needed him to score, he could do that as well. Wallace cant score period. Remember that game this year when he had like 22 REB and 0 PTS?
I must take Rodman here. VERY similar players but, believe it or not, i think Rodman gave more day in and day out for the pistons durring their run. He was just as good of a defender, but was a little quicker and 2.5 inches taller.
Title rings don't count here. Titles shouldn't count unless you're comparing franchise players, because role players are just along for the ride. In the same situation, Wallace probably would have won those three rings as well.I think that Rodman's defense is overrated. He left players open just so he could stay close to the basket and boost his rebounding numbers. At least Ben Wallace keeps with his man. Plus, Ben Wallace is more athletic -- faster, quicker, etc. I would say Wallace by a hair.

All of his blocks are weak side and one of his weaknesses is on the ball defending. He has a tough time defending a lot of the centers in the league 1 on 1. Also, BOTH of them are role players. Ben was 7th or 8th on the Pistons in all-around skills. Ben can rebound, block shots, and steal. He cannot shoot outside 3 ft, pass, dribble and he is the worst free throw shooter in the NBA. The VERY definition of a role player. Rodman was quicker and faster than wallace is as shown by him actually leading the fast break a few times. He wasnt a scorer, but more effective than Wallace is, had a better free throw percentage, and was a fairly good passer. You also have to remember that in the 4 years that Wallace won the DPOY, there wasnt exactly stiff competition. THe only reason Artest won it one year was because he bitched and moaned about not winning it the previous year. I think Rodman, with the same competion that wallace had, would have won it numerous times. Rodman had to compete with great defensive players such as Hakeem, Buck Williams, Michael Jordan, Joe Dumars, A.C. Green, David Robinson, Derek Harper, etc. You cannot name that many great defensive players in the league this year or for the past 7 or 8 for that matter because defense garners little recognition and doesnt get you on the hilight reel. Defense is almost a lost art in todays game.
This is pretty obvious, Dennis Rodman. He was probably the fastest jumper i've ever seen. The guy was 6'8" 225 or so pounds and drove opposing players crazy. He's didn't score or block shots but to me he's definatly better.
