Roger Huerta was offered a headliner fight with Joe Stevenson at UFC 95 but he turned it down due to personal family issues. He is currently rumoured to be fighting Spencer Fisher at UFC 96 but that fight is now in doubt. Huerta reportedly turned down a 5-fight contract extension with the UFC because he wants to pursue a career in acting. Huerta was the first mixed martial artist to be a Sports Illustrated coverboy and he has parlayed that face time into a role in the upcoming Tekken film. Huerta has signed a three-film development deal with Lion's Gate for 2009. Huerta last fought at UFC 87: Seek and Destroy, where he lost a unanimous decision to Kenny Florian. It was his first loss in the UFC and snapped an eleven-fight winning streak. Huerta has one fight remaining on his contract and will compete before the end of 2009.
If his heart isn't in it, than I like his decision. Serious injury could occur if he didn't train properly.
I'm sure every movie he appears in will be just a joke. I didn't see the Randy movie, but from the commercials I saw it looked like the worst acting ever.
Little bit off topic but Randy Couture is supposed to be shooting a movie right now with Stallone, Rourke, and Dolph Lundgren called "the expendables" That sounds pretty badass....sort of.
