This could be a critical blow to the Cowboys if they don't step it up. With the NFC East being the best and most competitive division by far, these 4 weeks can make or break their season.
Yeah but damn this is vicious news. He didn't play that well at the end of last season either. I still think they'll make the post-season though.
Oh fuck me. This is horrible news man, we don't have a very good back-up QB. Lets hope JJ can pull some shit off and get us some help.
This is god awful news. OTOH, the "Romo is overrated, any QB can do this" crowd is about to get shut up. As if I haven't owned them hard enough to date... (not talking about this site, but another site...)
GOOD! I'm happy he is hurt he is a BUM! Brad Johnson is my quarterback and I hope we stick with his through the whole year!
The Cowboys have the Rams, Bucs, and Giants in the next three weeks. They should win 2 games at most (I'll say 1-2 for now unless Brad shows something). Then their bye week will help stop the bleeding.
They will go 1-2. Bucs are good and Giants are sick. Rams, I dunno what to make of them now. Granted they are 1-0 Under Jimmy H.
LOL. Watch how much the offense has to change for Brad. 2 TE sets. Max Protect. Running the ball more. No downfield passing. Maybe Garrett will finally move Owens around though....
this isn't really that terrible. in 4 weeks he'll only miss 3 games. and if nothing else, at least it will get dallas to focus on the running game more. i'm still trying to figure out what dallas has been trying to accomplish on offense the last few weeks. barber is a power back, but half of his running plays are draws. the offense would be so much better if dallas actually ran the ball and then got the passing game going with play action instead of trying to do it the other way around. that also will give felix jones more chances because if barber is actually consistently running the ball, they'll put felix in for series so he can rest. it might sound weird but romo missing some games here might be the best thing that could happen to the dallas offense later on in the year. if they get back to running the ball when he's gone(because they have to) and it's working, they'll have to stick with it when he gets back and then we'll have a good running game and good qb.
Those draws are the only thing working. We keep running pitches/sweeps to the outside with him... and that's ok... if the blocking is good. Its not. Felix makes up for it with speed. A straight RB dive or off tackle isn't working. The OL is getting no push. Those delays are at least generating some yards. The thing is... this is the offense of the 90s. We used the pass to set up the run then; we do the same now. The only difference is... in the 90s, I am pretty damn sure we could have reversed it (used the run to set up the pass) and had success with it. Its questionable at best if we can do that now. The OL is run blocking very poorly IMO. People want to criticize Romo's turnovers. He's had 8 in 6 games. We are throwing. A lot. More throws = more turnovers. People seem unwilling to accept that. And when the OL is playing as poorly as it is... turnovers are expected. Romo had no protection last game. Knocked down 19 times. That's pathetic. Its a miracle we didn't turn it over more. We are losing games because we are losing the battle in the trenches (see Washington, Arizona). Yet people want to point fingers at the QB...
They'll lose to the Giants, probably to the Bucs. They will not lose to the Rams, though. I was listening to ESPN radio this morning and one of the guys on the show said that this team is going to be just like Minnesota of last year. He called Brad Johnson the white Tavaris Jackson, etc. The Cowboys are too good offensively to be in full panic mode. Marion Barber is a horse, Felix Jones is an amazing change of pace back (how is his injury?), and with Witten and Owens, Johnson will just have to protect the ball and not turn it over to give Dallas a legit shot at winning. The only problem Dallas faces is they are in the NFC east. Worst division to be in for your team leader to go down like that.
i disagree that the draws have been working. my main point though was that the running game hasn't been getting it done so far and that romo going down for a few weeks means the cowboys are going to have to focus more on the running game and figure out how to get it going. if they are successful doing that and romo is able to come back without a drop off in play, the injury may turn out to be a very good thing for the cowboys season.
