What might have been "Getting traded to the Lakers would have been great for my career. Just from a business standpoint, that's a million records sold. The Lakers pushed real hard. I was talking to Kobe a lot, and I never talked to Kobe ever in my life. He reached out, was like, 'Come to the Lakers.' He said, 'We're going to get you here.' Next day, I got an apartment in Hollywood, I moved some of my stuff, and I was in L.A. for two months, just waiting to be a Laker. Kobe would have done the scoring, Lamar does the passing and triple doubles, and we can all play the point. That would've been dangerous."

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Bobcats:</div><div class="quote_post">How would you aquire Artest without giving up Odom or Kwame?</div> Brian Cook... duh!
<div class="quote_poster">Bobcats Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">How would you aquire Artest without giving up Odom or Kwame?</div> Pacers wanted Bynum, and I think we had a trade exemption at the time. There's still a chance the Lakers can pursue Artest once he opts out his current deal. Also it wasn't Kupchak's call .. it was Junior Buss turning the deal down.
yeah what he said who'd they'd put at pf Odom or Artest Brian Cook is not worth Artest is he? or is he really good because I never saw him play. All I know is that he is A pf that can shoot the 3 ball

All I know is that he is A pf that can shoot the 3 ball</div> Chutney was joking about Brian Cook being worth it. I actually thought the Lakers were a very realistic trade destination for Artest, and I would have done an Odom for Artest + Foster or Croshere, because Odom wasn't playing that well during the first half of the season and Indiana couldn't get equal trade value for Artest.
Isn't Ron Artest a free agent after this season? If so, we should take a look at him. I doubt he will return to Sacto, considering how they "disobeyed" him and let Bonzi Wells sign with the Rockets. Plus, I'm sure we could get guys like Snoop Dogg to help lure Artest in. If Artest signs with the Lakers, Snoop will help promote Artest as a rapper. I'm sure Jack Nicholson wouldn't mind helping either, and if interested, which I'm sure he will, Jack will give Ron Artest a leading role in his next blockbuster film

If he wasn't riding the bench half of the game, he'd be an all-star. Brian Cook for Ron Artest is a rip for the Lakers, because Artest doesn't give them the outside scoring that Cook does. If it wasn't for Cookie, the Lakers wouldn't have even contested the Suns last year. Brian Cook is a serious MVP candidate in full stride, and I think this year we will see Cook steal the starting spot from either Vlad or Lamar and show that he can really be that 20 PPG scoreer that we need.
you would want Artest on your team? I don't know, some of those comments would turn me off big time. Like because he was underpaid, he deliberately didn't give his all in Indiana. that's reassuring. Or how he hasn't touched a basketball all summer. Or how his goals are in order of importance 1) recording a respected album, 2) boxing, 3) NFL, 4) oh yeah the NBA??? I almost forgot i was in that league. Then he says that the U.S. team WOULD HAVE won if he was on the squad. where does he get off saying that.

He's a competitive person and one of the best two way players in the league. With Artest last season, I felt the Lakers could have contended for the title right away and take full advantage of Kobe's prime. With Kwame showing he can play center for the Lakers, I'm willing to let Bynum go. The Lakers would have been solid with this core ... Kobe-Odom-Kwame-Artest Waiting for Bynum to emerge into a dominant center might never happen, so trading him for an impact player like Artest was worth the risk IMO.
