The team wanted to pursue a long-term plan for the position due to Rivera's candidacy for numerous head coaching positions and head coach Lovie Smith felt the need to move in a different direction sooner rather than later. I know we have a DC, but Rivera could be the "Senior Defensive Consultant" or something of the like. Just for a year and then he can get a head coaching gig next year somewhere.

Yeah the Jets should make him their "Senior Defensive Consultant" for a year, as should 30 other teams. Bears are retarded, now he has to sit out for a year or take a job he is way overqualified for.

This is really tough but I cant really stop loving Lovie. He's still brought way too much to this team to fire him.
