And a lot of people doubted him at the beginning of last season saying that Boston cannot win with Rondo at the point guard. I know he has 3 all-stars in the team, but the way he plays defense, IMO makes him at least top 3 for point guard defenders in the league. What does everyone else think? (about Rondo and his stat line tonight lol)
Yeah that's the only area he lacks right now, you would think that being around with Paul and Allen (and even House) he would get some daily lessons on how to shoot.
Nice game and stat line. Probably the most underrated PG in the league. The guy is a very good ball player and mans the point well. I think he gets a lot of doubt simply because of the big three and people question whether he can still be a good PG without them, and I think he can. He's quick as hell and he sets up plays great for his teammates. Like JE said, he just needs a better jumper and like most players, to improve his defense. However, the guy's a straight beast and like tonight has shown, he'll only get better.
I still think he can improve. I mean, he is lanky as fuck but I still think for him to become a truly great PG in this league, his defense needs to get better. Same thing with Jose.
Man-to-man defense he could be better (he's not bad by any stretch), his strong point is forcing turnovers and wreaking havoc.
I think playing with 3 stars has helped a lot. He's not the focus of other teams defense and he's gaining confidence and opportunities. By the time Ray, KG and Paul are ready to step down or take on a reduced role, I think Rondo will be ready to be either the main guy or the 2nd best player on the team. I wonder.. is Rondo a top 10 PG right now??? Let's see: CP3 Derron Williams Chauncey Billups Devin Harris Steve Nash Baron Davis Jason Kidd Jose Calderon Derrick Rose (yup he's already that good) Rajon Rondo I can't see the arguement to put Andre Miller ahead of Rondo right now but it is close. did I miss anyone?
yeah it's a tough Call. Calderon has been playing hurt of late, but looked good early and Kidd's D is gonzo, but he's still rebounding and getting assists by the bucketload.
He's got 3x 20PPG scorers, including a recent MVP, on his team and he's shooting a career best (or thereabouts). What's the team's record?
