"Rookie of the Year" Gordon or Okafor

There is a lot of attention again in the NBA as to who will win ROY my personal choice is Ben Gordon I?ve watched this kid take so many tough shots and lead the Bulls to victories I know Okafor is a top 5 in double doubles, I just don?t see how they could give ROY to a player who leads there team in a losing effort, if that was the case then the scoring champ would win MVP every year. That?s just my opinion on how I see the ROY should go down. what do you think will happend

I'm not going to be biased or anything here, but I seriously think Gordon deserves it over Okafor. What he's done for Chicago coming off the bench has been astounding. He's single handedly won a ton of games for Chicago. And if it wasn't for his efforts in the fourth, we would not be the 4th seed (3rd if you don't take into account the divisions). Okafor on the other hand, has had a standout season, but his team has gone nowhere. Now I'm not going to use that against him, cause you can't, he had no control of being on an expansion team. He has put up great numbers, but Gordon has put up great numbers himself, and he does a lot of it when it matters the most.

I do beleive we had a similar discussion Moo2K4, but the supporting cast of the team is crucial. Also it seems as if Gordon has been somewhat one-dimmensional with just scoring. What else has he done?

This should be in the NBA forum. Obviously I choose Okafor over Gordon. Gordan is a good scorer, but... that's pretty much it. He is one-dimensional. Okafor scores, rebounds, defends, blocks. And just like last year when Melo didn't win, you have to look at the supporting casts. Chicago has a way better supporting cast then Charlotte.

Should just be a co-rookie award. Kind of like when brand and francis shared. Just my input.

That would be BS IMO. If they do that, then Melo got screwed last year.

Okafor does more cause he can. I don't expect Gordon to be grabbing 10 boards or getting a couple blocks per game, that's not his style. He's a SG, not a PF. Okafor is expected to do those things. Gordon isn't. To use that against Gordon is not fair at all in my opinion.

Nobody expects him to get 2 Blocks or grab 10 Rebounds. That's absurd. But Gordon is pretty trigger happy and suspect on defense. More steals and assists are what I would expect from Gordon. And hey, like we were discussing about Kobe and Kidd yesterday, Okafor is more versatile than Gordon.
