Do you think anyone among the rookie crop this year can make the all star team? (Mayo, Beasley, Rose, etc) I personally think Rose has a very good chance... and being in the East would help him. The East doesnt have too many guards (i think) that are a lock for the all star team. I'd love Rose to beat our Ray Allen in voting though... LOL Mayo has a lot of competition in the west so i think he'd have to settle for the rookie - soph game. Woot! Durant, Oden vs. Mayo, Beasley, Rose!
I think Iverson/Wade will get the starting nods, and Rose will get pushed out by his own teammate, and have to settle for the rookie-soph game. But Rose is playing much better than Lebron did so far in his rookie year, so the coaches still might give him a nod. But assuming Iverson/Wade get the starting spots, it'll be imo: Allen Iverson, Dwyane Wade, Joe Johnson, Ben Gordon, and Harris/Carter (one of the two).
I'd love to see Rose get a shot at making the All Star game. Personally, I think he's the only one that would make it, if any. Mayo is on a bad team in a Western Conference that has a crowded backcourt, so the likelihood of him getting is really, really slim. Same goes with Beasley, it also doesn't help his cause that he's somewhat underachieved in comparison to the standards that some people were setting for him.
Ben Gordon will not make the all-star team, sorry. Rose has a better chance. I actually would like to see him make it. I think it would be good for TV ratings too.
The starters are Dwight, KG, LeBron, Wade, and Iverson. Joe Johnson and Vince Carter will likely be the backup guards. Chris Bosh and Paul Pierce will be the reserve forwards. The backup center will be someone. The wildcard spots will be between Devin Harris, Danny Granger, Derrick Rose, and a couple others. Granger and Harris are the ones most deserving.
