It's a series of seminars, classes and interactive workshops designed to educate the young players on a variety of off-the-court topics, probably the most extensive support system in professional sports.

It includes topics like financial planning, nutrition, drug and alcohol education, security and dealing with peer pressures.

"I think it's a great idea because there's lot more we need to know than just basketball," Howard said.</div>

I really love the Rookie Program that the NBA offers.

These guys may think they can deal with the off court issues, but just talk to Kobe Bryant. It's good to teach/talk to them while their egos are still reasonable.

Yeah, this is a great program, but I wonder if any of the players actually listen to what the guys have to say. Because with the way the NBA is looking now I don't know if they did. Oh and during the day they have a show where they follow some of the rookies thoughout this process. I saw it last year and it was very interesting.

hopefully the rookies can learn something from this...
agree with rudygayfan1, i wonder if those rookies out there really listen to what those guys talking?? they kinda have too high pride and if they can learn humble, they can grow up faster and be greater players!

well i do not know what they think but sad to say more players now look like they play for money rather than they play by heart and play for bball. it's kinda lack of passion. players at old days play out with all their mind and heart and they show real high quality bball game to everyone, you cant say the quality of the game is not as good as before but hey...it just lack of something...(well...just what i think, same as in other sports around the world, players now show more respect to $)
