Rooney Ready For Man Utd Comeback

Wayne Rooney says he has recovered from injury and wants to face his former club Everton for Manchester United at the weekend.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has told his manager Sir Alex Ferguson that he is raring to return against his first club Everton on Saturday, according to The Sun.

The newspaper reports that 21-year-old Rooney, who has been sidelined since the opening day of the season with a broken metatarsal, has been out of plaster for a fortnight and training hard, and even wanted a place on the substitutes' bench for Manchester United's last game, at home to Sunderland.

However, Ferguson apparently told Rooney to take his time - and according to The Sun the manager will also be reluctant to risk the star striker at Goodison Park.

Rooney is due to have another scan this week and Ferguson will take advice from United's medical team before making a decision.

Ferguson has Louis Saha back after the Frenchman scored the winner against Sunderland in his first start since last February. But Argentine striker Carlos Tevez will have undergone a draining flight back from Australia after the Albiceleste's match against the Socceroos tonight.

Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo is available again after completing a three-match suspension incurred when he was red-carded at Portsmouth.

And United captain Gary Neville, 32, also hopes to return within the next two weeks, been out since March 17 with ankle and thigh injuries.

Hopefully he's not rushing it and gets injured in the process again.

    We really need him.

Damn you beat me, I just read this on BBC.

Yes ManU does need him. He was a multi dimensional forward who used his touches well. In time Tevez could become similar, but it's very different than his role last year (in the 2nd half) where he dominated offensive touches in the box and just outside of it.
