This is nice. But after only 2 games.

This would be very good (and very unlikely imo - ppg will drop when Boozer is back) after 82 games.

I wouldn't be proud if I were the point guard who averaged 28 shots a game. Or leading the league in scoring for that matter.

If he leads the league in scoring and we finish first in the division, I'd swallow my pride and take it.

I don't think that he will take this many shots if Boozer is back.

The Bulls need a high scoring Rose at the moment. If nobody is scoring, then Rose must score.

It's really situational. Last night he needed to take that many shots, and if he didn't the Bulls wouldn't have won. On Wednesday, it wasn't conducive to winning. I don't think there is any formula for how a point guard, or any position, should play. Rondo is amazing, but he wouldn't be as good as Derick Rose for the Bulls; and Rose probably wouldn't be as conducive to winning as Rondo for the Celtics.

I agree with the former, though the latter isn't necessarily true.

Rose played well last night despite taking 27 shots. Why? He took those shots within the flow of the game, moreso than Sunday. He was also looking for his teammates, something he rarely did the first game. He obviously dominates the ball, and before i've almost always stood by him, but this year he isn't making the best decisions, and has played like a real ball-hog. The second half was a good sign last night, hopefully he lowers his shot attempts and gives other guys a shot.

Now to the point about Rondo, I actually think he'd score a lot more here with the Bulls, all while grabbing 6 rebounds and 9 assists. He's great no matter what team he plays for. Rose needs to play D, rebound and make decisions more like Rondo. IMO, Rondo has been far better than Rose and is right up there with Deron in that 2nd tier of PGs (Chris Paul in a class of his own).

And this is exactly what being a point guard is all about

Who gives a shit if he takes 28 shots a game ( so long as he is efficient in doing so ) and we win

Great point guards recognise the situation and go the hot hand . The discipline is not to fall in love with your own hand

    Spot on.

Maybe Rose isn't really a PG. He's not really making his teammates better, or even that effective at creating for them. He's a fine ball handler and scorer, maybe a little more like a Roy than a Chris Paul type. Paul was able to turn Tyson Chandler into a reasonably effective offensive player, if only for a season. I'm not seeing Rose do that.

It's not like he doesn't have a couple of teammates he could be getting some help from. Deng is no slouch if he gets his touches in the right position.

Right now the offense looks like the last shot before the end of a quarter, every play. Set up Rose to create his offense for himself. He was meh the first game and brilliant the second, in spite of 7 turnovers. The 7 turnovers to go with 7 assists is not "true" PG kind of numbers. The 39 points and 7 assists are Jordan like numbers!

The scoring and shooting from the PG spot is hardly unprecedented. Baron Davis, Chris Paul, Deron Williams, and Wade (to some extent) are recent players who play the PG position and score a ton. Guys like Kevin Johnson and Pippen are good examples of guys who did it in the past.

The Rose/Boozer combo sure seems like a fit made in heaven to play the pick and roll. I can't wait to see it, though it may take some time for it to become second nature to both player playing together.

ya when Boozer is ready to play and Derricks assists go up then he will be viewed as a classic pg.

I actually think he is more like and Iverson, Francis definition of point guard.

Care to re-evaluate after last night's game?

p.s. Yo, Sex Panther, I'm taking Rose over Rondo. Just like coach K. :>

    Rose is the answer man!

I post that his scoring is inefficient. He answers with a 39 point game with incredible scoring efficiency.

I post that he's not making his teammates better. He answers with a 13 assist night and Deng gets 40 points.

Answer this next, Derrick. Win on the road.

Rose is playing the right way! Wooo. He probably reads S2!

Play like this every game with some more defense and I won't complain all year :)
