“I was relaxed a little bit, but now it’s aggressive for now on,” Rose said. “If they stop me, then that’s what I have teammates for. If they don’t I’m going to get a layup or a jump shot.”

It's the kind of player he should be and that we want him to be. It's not like we want to see him drive all the way to the basket and keep on going, dribble out to the corner, back to the top of the key, and finally dump it to someone with not much time on the clock like our recent PGs did.

Hear, hear. If D Rose fails in our offense by taking too many shots, then I think it shows bad personnel decisions. Noc, Hughes, and Gooden are all shoot first players, who convert at mediocre rates. I think there is enough shots to go around for Rose and Gorden, the Bulls may have to refit their other positions.

I don't want this out of Derrick Rose. I want him to have a Chris Paul or Steve Nash attitude, not this.

Right now, Derrick Rose equals Steve Francis. He has the Stevie Franchies attitude as well. Although, Francis only turned out into a mega disaster because of the migraines and knee injury.

There is nothing wrong with having a Steve Francis like player on your team. That type of player and a Ben Gordon make a dandy bakccourt. One can kill you with his penetration, while the other kills you with his shooting, that's fine. But Rose will never be able to "be" the system, like Nash or Paul. And if that turns out to be the case, it's even more imperative that we get a front court star in 2010.

    LOL

    Derrick Rose's Rookie Stats
    38 MPG, 47.5% FG, 3.7 RPG, 6.2 APG, 1.0 SPG, 17.7 PPG
He's had lots of 8 and 9 assist games; his APG is on the rise from ~3.5 earlier in the season.

    Chris Paul's Rookie Stats
    36 MPG, 43% FG, 5.1 RPG, 7.8 APG, 2.2 SPG, 16.1 PPG

I'm not saying he's going to be the next Chris Paul, but he's not even close to embarrassing himself. And you never know.

He's doing better than Deron Williams as a rookie:
    29MPG, 42% FG, 2.4 RPG, 4.5 APG, .8 SPG, 10.8 PPG

I'm satisfied to let him play his game and see how good he really can be.

I don't think Rose is embarassing himself. I just think he is playing selfish ball and not showing great passing like a Chris Paul.

    Steve Francis - 18.0 PPG 44.5 FG% 6.6 APG 5.3 RPG 1.5 SPG in 36 MPG

Rose needs to play less seflishly, and become more of a distributor. Give the kid some Steve Nash or Chris Paul game tape. I think Rose blowing off the play at the end of the Charlotte game is a great example of Rose's selfishness.

I want him to play his game, everybody else has to adjust to him. They spread the floor so he can drive the lanes, and he'd probably have more assists if the teammates he passed to made the shot or actually took it instead of dribbling around.

Rose's initial challenge is the rookie wall. I get the feeling he'll meet that one as much like a vet as his play has been all long.

His next challenge will be to realize he can't do it all by himself, though there's nothing wrong with finding out just how much he can do by himself. At some point, teams will definitively try to stop him and he'll have to adjust. In doing so, he'll find a wide open Ben Gordon or Luol Deng or Nocioni or even Noah will lead to points and assists.

This is not even on my list of concerns about the Bulls!

His usage rate is 62nd in the league.

He also has a high assist ratio and PPR.

Gordon's usage rate is higher than Rose's.

I dunno. Does not seem all that ball hogish to me. Out of all the guys on the team, I want the ball in his hands more than anyone else anyway.

He's not up there with Kidd, Paul and Deron in terms of PPR, but give the kid a year or two.

The selfish tag is ridiculous. That play at the end of the Charlotte game was clearly called for Rose. Rose is already a better finisher at the rim than anybody on the Bulls currently. The end of the Utah game showed that as Rose consistently got to the line or got the bucket. If anything, Rose needs to up his usage to learn what he can do and can't do more quickly.

The play the Bulls ran at the end of the Charlotte game is a pick and pop where Rose was supposed to drop a pass to Gordon. We've run it at the end of quarters countless times. Rose didn't even wait for the pick.

It's an option play, and if he thinks he get to the bucket, he's supposed to take it.
