Steve Nash. In fact, I think he'd play SG for Billups or Kidd or one of the older established vets, too.
I'll take issue with some of your statements, but allow for the possibility that while rose recovers, moving to sg might be a reasonable entry point for him. But that begs the question of the original implication, which was that the only reason Rose said those things about Kirk was that he is not threatened by Kirk, and somehow would be by someone else. It's a cheap dismissal of a pretty strongly stated sentiment.
Has Rose ever called anyone else his Dawg? I think the most likely explanation is that Rose and Kirk are close and he respects his work, both on and off the court. It'd explain why management put such a high premium on getting him.
I think the pickup of Kirk ranks slightly above Nazr and Marco. http://wagesofwins.com/2012/08/26/grading-the-chicago-bulls-offseason/
Well, I'll continue to enjoy my delusion that Rose is actually happy that Kirk is here, not consoling himself with happy talk in the face of utter disaster. Of course, I'm going to vote for Obama, so you know already that I'm dependent on the government, consider myself a victim and am too busy posting on the internet to contribute something useful to society. Go Bulls!
Spin it however you want, but Hinrich's addition was the most significant (and expensive) Bulls' move this offseason. And yeah, it's a good thing Rose likes it.
The elimination of Asik, Watson, Korver, and Brewer (and Scalabrine!!!) count as offseason moves, no? Weren't those more significant? Asik alone contributed more than Kurt will, but taken as a whole, the offseason was about becoming a lower quality team.
You're right and I'm wrong. I meant to say addition, not move. It was a bad offseason. On paper, the team got worse. I hope things work out for the team.
I take no pleasure in you being wrong or me being right. The discussion is good. What I really think is this... I went back to Chicago about 3 years ago. Kirk's likeness was plastered all over billboards everywhere. I don't believe he was brought back to be a real difference maker on the court. I do believe management thinks he has some marketing value and will help sell tickets. FWIW
To my chagrin, this thread has irritated only me. :-( But that's par for the course. I'm not a good instigator. I have too much self-doubt. And now, I reclaim my inner peace, knowing (trusting) that Derrick (and Joakim) is happy that Kirk is back. What happens on the court? 5 to 10 games worse record than last year, but with a chance, if Derrick is healthy and the team has learned how to function a bit better without him, to surprise and go far in the playoffs.
They were a 60 win team 2 seasons ago, and had a similar record, adjusted for the shortened season last year. So you think they're really a 50 win team? I'm thinking 45 is the high end, and only because Thibs is that good. If we ever sign him.
