<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">ROSTER WORK: With the season ending Wednesday against the Pistons, Bickerstaff will shift his primary focus to general manager.

He thought he had to make immediate decisions on contract options for Bernard Robinson and Tamar Slay. It turns out, after reviewing the contracts, he has a few weeks to decide whether to retain either one (Robinson appears more likely).

He also has until late June to decide whether to tender qualifying offers to various restricted free agents. Wallace is the most prominent of those players, but the Bobcats also have to decide about Matt Carroll, Jason Kapono and Keith Bogans, among others.

Making a qualifying offer grants the Bobcats the option to match any other team's offer on a restricted free agent. Bickerstaff said he'd likely make several tender offers, since the risk is relatively low. Wallace would have the highest tender offer, as a former first-round pick, and he looks like a keeper.

Knight and Rush are unrestricted free agents, but the Bobcats are interested in re-signing both.

Within days of the season's conclusion, Bickerstaff will travel to Europe to scout international prospects in June's draft. The problem, Bickerstaff said, is European pro teams often don't use their young players much, even if they have high potential.

Bickerstaff thinks that's an effort to keep the NBA from picking them off before they produce something for their original team.</div>
