What are everyones views on rotation? Mourinho came out this week and said 9 of his players are untouchable. He plays them 'week in, week out'. It has been one of the strengths of Chelsea since Mourinho took charge, that he will play a very similar team every week. Lampard, Terry, Makelele and Essian for example don't often get rotated in the Premiership. Liverpoll under Benitez however do make changes. This isn't new he has done through his time at Anfield and did at Valencia. In that time he has won the Spanish Championship twice, the Uefa Cup, Spanish Cup, Super Cup twice, FA Cup, European Cup, Community Shield and taken the club to the WCC and League Cup finals... so he must be doing something right. Rotation occurs in the game, it is inevitable the amount of games the players have to play. Some teams however use it unecessarily to keep their squad players happy. I personally don't think Benitez does it for this reason, I think he just likes to have players who will play his high tempo game, hence he wants fresh players. Man United have benefited this season from not making too many changes and they seem to know their best XI. They reap the rewards of having a settled team and the player get used to playing with each other. I think rotation is a high risk strategy. If a manager rotates and the team wins, people say it is great management. If they lose the manager quickly gets blamed for making too many changes and weaking the team. It's all about rotating players at the right time.
yer...if Benitez noes wot hes doing, then it isnt silly, its actually quite a smart tactic. I trust him, even though im not a reds fan. He's really good and experienced and is doing a great job with liverpool. Good on him.
