Is it just me or are the refs getting too protective of the quarterbacks. I was watching the games today and one that stuck out was the miami/arizona game. When one of the miami defenders was going to swat the ball, he barely hit the QB while he was throwing. The refs called it roughing the passer and they went on the score a TD. That same type of thing happened later in the game which took away a miami int. I think the refs are getting way too protective and that makes the game not worth watching.
I agree completely, way to protective, take away the protection for QBs and take away intentional grounding penalties
I saw one roughing the passer in the Chi/NYG game where the defender's hand fell into Warner's head...it wasn't that big of a hit, yet it was roughing the passer. I like the intentional grounding rule, but they need to lay off the roughing the passer calls.
I just want the "special protection" for qbs gone, if it isnt roughing on a RB or WR it is not roughing on QB. I dont want all grounding gone, just he outside the pocket thing, if there is no one open let him throw it away.
I myself noticed it alot when my own team with chris simms was handed gifts from the refs when we played seattle. They called alot of roughing the passer calls on seattle, which was horrible calls. Tho the outcome didnt pay off for us, i have noticed it as well.
