<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Another draft pick signs Press-Gazette The Packers signed third-round draft pick Aaron Rouse on Friday. A 6-foot-4, 223-pound safety, Rouse was selected 89th overall out of Virginia Tech and is expected to have a chance to unseat starting safety Marquand Manuel. Financial terms of the contract were not released, but it is believed Rouse signed a four-year contract. His agent, Alvin Keels, could not be reached. NFL teams can sign players drafted in the third round or later for a maximum of four years. Rouse is the second of the Packers' 11 draft choices to sign a contract. Receiver David Clowney, a fifth-round pick, signed Monday. Rouse began his college career as a linebacker but switched to strong safety as a junior. He started 24 games at Virginia Tech and recorded 217 tackles and five interceptions.</div>[IMG]

2 down, 9 more to go. Hopefully he can show something in training camp.

I personally think that he will overtake Manuel on the depth chart by the end of training camp

He was injured for the majority of training camp and never really got to gel in the defense. Hopefully this year will be different but he needs to be more coverage sound. At least we have the guys needed to compete. Underwood, Culver, and now Rouse should make for a good competition at SS.

Got alot of hype coming out of college for being this great athlete who would put up great measureables until he had a lackluster Combine, without that athleticism he is probably best suited to be an Outside Linebacker in terms of his style of play, but would need to bulk up at least 15 pounds to do so.

Either way this kid still had a great junior year and was considered a top safety prospect at one time but I'm not holding my breath. He should at the very least provide a good backup option for us. I think that Underwood will provide more of a push on Manuel than anyone.Rouse is just like the Cowboys Pat Watkins. If it works out great, but at least we have a good backup option at the very least.
