Yah, because we have no one else who can score or create shots for themselves on a regular basis. Wait, I mean, Oden is keeping Brandon down!
Two games. He's playing well but it's just two games. Don't get too excited and then start complaining when he has an off-game.
3 games. I count the game that Oden went down. For the first time all season, Roy played like Roy during that game. He was finally driving to the basket. Point blank- he's a better player when Oden's not on the floor.
YEP! LeBron currently averages 28 ppg. He averaged 28.4 ppg last season. Also--- there are FOUR players in the NBA right now that are averaging 20+ ppg, 4+ rpg, and 5+ apg: LeBron James Dwyane Wade Monta Ellis Brandon Roy That's fine company. If the Lakers beat the Jazz, Roy will have his team at the 9th best record in the league, 5th best in the West, despite the loss of Batum, Outlaw, Rudy, and now Oden. IF Brandon Roy keeps up this production and we finish in the top 3 of the West (TOTALLY doable), you will have to consider Brandon Roy a Top 5 MVP candidate, especially considering all the injuries.
I don't know why everyone is feeling down over these injuries. We have an All-Star in Brandon Roy and we get to see him put up good numbers and soon great numbers. That will bring notice to Portland when he starts putting up 40 or 50 points a game. Brandon will get back in the zone once he starts putting up more shots. With LA the only other scorer among starters, Brandon should be able to average 25 shots a game. It's better to keep Miller and Bayless on the bench so they don't take away from Roy's game.
I'm more worried about the team, not Brandon Roy's stats. And with Oden out, the team is simply not as good. Oh well. There's always next season.
BEFORE Oden went down, we were playing like CRAP, getting blown out by the fucking Grizzlies, getting killed by the Jazz. Now that Oden is gone and Roy has taken over the reigns, we've looked much better. Next time, OJ Mayo will have to work.
You must not have watched The Grizzlies take out Cleveland last night. Memphis has a good looking starting lineup. Compared to ours
Lol. The Blazers haven't look better at all. How many pts were they down to the Knicks again? Then tonight, grinding out a win against a D-League team is not inspiring. Oden would have dominated the Pacers frontline.
I'll bet you literally have trouble thinking about things that exist more than five minutes in the future. No Oden in the lineup and integrated into the offense = no championship aspirations. End of discussion.
If you surrounded Brandon with 4 scrubs, his scoring average would go up. If you surrounded Brandon with 4 talented players like Oden, his scoring would go down. The later scenario would surely result in more wins. Brandon's scoring average does not directly correlate to wins. What more is there to say about this?
I did watch the Grizzzlies take out the Cavs. And yes, Memphis has a good team (I root for them outside of when they play the Blazers- I'm still a ZBo fan). But that was down to the last shot and it was IN MEMPHIS. We were BLOWN OUT at HOME. They went on a 31-2 run in OUR BUILDING. That didn't happen to Cleveland.
I like seeing Roy play well, I just hate the fact that at this point W's are going to depend on if Roy puts up a MVP performance that night or not. That's so 2007-2008, and even parts of last year.
My thoughts exactly. Even if the team goes through a temporary slump getting Oden integrated, the ultimate goal of a championship is nearly impossible without doing it. Now that that temporary slump of integrating Oden has been removed, we may look OK, but our championship dream is very unrealistic. Which situation would you prefer?
I'm aware of all of that. I was just pointing out facts (we got blown out by Memphis, Roy plays better without Oden, etc). Of COURSE though, we eventually have to figure out a way to make it work between LMA, Oden, and Roy. And doing that will take time. Unfortunately, we can't do anything about that for the rest of the season so we'll practically have to start over when Greg comes back next season and even THEN, Oden may just get hurt again. In fact, it's probably pretty likely. Who knows if we'll ever be able to make it work? All we can do now is figure out the best way to win with who we have. And who we have is Brandon Roy.
