Dang, this is not the kind of stuff I wanted to hear. Time to Nate to assert himself a bit perhaps?

Are you comfortable with the offensive sets up to this point?
With the offense we've been running, nah, because that's not really my style. We'll get more towards my style of play when we get towards the regular season.

What do you mean by your style?

More pick and rolls. More isolation plays. Right now we're doing a lot of powering, a lot of coming off screens. A lot of crossing. I think that's going to be more of the second string's offense. And the starters will play something different.

Do you think the offense will return to like it was last year?

Last year I thought it was different from 2 years before, just with adding 'Dre. I think we're going to continue some of that from last year but try to get back maybe from a couple of years ago, before 'Dre came, where I get the ball a little bit more. I want the basketball a lot more.

Plus, he want on to say in so many words, "If 'Dre doesn't like it (Brandon getting the ball more), then tough squid."

Great news. He is the team's best player, it's OK to expand the offensive game plan - but it's dumb to force him away from his strength.

I wonder if he realizes he is already peaked and won't make the all-star game this year.

Ya don't think he needs to try and help make everyone else better and work within a system designed to do that? ISO ball won't get you out of the first rd, we have found that out, and we can't just decide to change our offense at playoff time. Sorry, but he needs to adjust some, this is not a good sign for happening that IMO.

Repped. It baffles me why some people think that Roy should go away from his strengths. He's a 3-time All-Star, 2-time All-NBA, and he's supposed to adapt to Andre Miller, who clearly hasn't changed his game one bit?

EDIT - can't rep until some is spread around.

Well, once. In Roy's first playoff series, where he had a 26 PER and got no help from anybody outside of Aldridge and Blake.

how bout adapting more to his team as well, he'll get his, but you don't think we can have a better offense where he helps others get there's and the whole team is better?

Except if Roy was a Rocket or a Laker he'd still be an All-Star and All-NBA, IMHO.

An ISO heavy offense is too easy to defend against in the playoffs.

He averages 5 assists per game on a fairly low usage rate. If he's actually healthy, I'd like to see his usage rate in the low 30s, like a Kobe Bryant or a Dwyane Wade. People talk about "iso" offense and Roy dominating the ball, but I just don't see it considering Roy's usage rate is around 26. His highest rate was in 2008-09, when a young team won 54 games, Roy was 2nd-team All-NBA, and his usage rate was 27.4.

By comparison, Wade's was 36.2, and Bryant's was 32.2 that year. If anything, Nate is underutilizing a healthy Roy, IMO.

I'd argue that a slow-paced offense is easier to defend. I also don't see the Blazers as being iso-heavy.

Who would have thought? You mean the team was indeed tinkering around because it's only preseason? No way!

Is my memory off, or is this an about-face from what he was saying a few weeks ago? Wasn't he talking about how he worked on moving without the ball, etc during the off-season?

Heard that Roy on 95.5 said that if Miller is affected by this attitude, Brandon replied that Dre would just have to "deal with it, because I'm getting the ball more."

    Is that true?!

He was. Hopefully he's realized that he's not Rip Hamilton, and that Andre Miller is not Chauncey Billups. Only in Portland would people demand the most dynamic and multi-faceted guard we've had since Clyde Drexler change his game for a 34 year-old PG who has never been out of the first round.

    To me, it's ludicrous.

If it is true, while Roy is correct, saying it over the air like that would be wrong, which kind of makes me think it might not be true.

    If it is...:sigh:

Kobe had to modify his game before his teams started winning without Shaq. It isn't ludicrous to think that a TEAM can be better by having its star player's individual stats decrease.

PS. Roy has never been out of the first round either, since you love to throw that out there like it is proof that Miller isn't a good PG.

Or, the reclusive Miller has finally turned off all of his teammates, including the franchise player.

It wouldn't be the first time for Miller, would it? He has less of a shelf-life than a Twinkie in any given NBA city.

What's ludicrous is that you keep saying it's about him changing for Andre Miller, it's about him changing for the entire team - can you get that?
